Position – Technical Lead (Mechanical Handling)
Location – Aztec West, Bristol
Hybrid – Required in the office 3 days per week and 2 remote
Arrangement – Staffed only
Salary – Up to £53,000 DOE

BPSS clearance will be required at basic level. Prior clearance will not be transferrable.
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Technical Lead role in Bristol to support Lifting and Access equipment contracts for HPC scope. The contracts include Airlocks, equipment hatches, cranes, lifts trolleys and hoists. This is a valuable and technically stimulating opportunity to work within EPR-E UK to support HPC which is a vital part of the UK’s future energy strategy. As part of the Responsible Designer (RD), EPR-E deliver the design of some of the Nuclear Island (NI) buildings, contracts and studies for HPC in the years to come.
As the Technical Lead you will provide technical oversight of the contract(s), including the surveillance of technical documentations, the management and the resolution of open-points and changes related to Design, Manufacturing and Qualification. You will be also responsible for keeping the contract at the configuration compliant with the project progress.
In order to do this, you will work closely with the relevant disciplines in EPR-E and Edvance France but also within the client and the suppliers to ensure the technical requirements are met.
Desired profile
Typical TL activities include, but are not limited to:
• Leading technical open point meetings
• Technical surveillance and resolution of issues/queries
• Review and approval of contractor deliverables and design where necessary
• Review of non-conformances, exemptions requests (ER’s), open points, design changes
• Control Management of the evolution of the contract and design changes
• Review and approval of contract amendments and exemptions (CTSs, ERs)
• Liaise with RD and client teams to ensure integration of equipment with interfacing functions/systems
• Liaise within the Responsible Designer and client management teams to communicate progress, risks, issues and planning to support contract delivery.
• Reporting of KPI’s to the CEL
• Ensure qualification activities are progressing accordingly to the contract progress and site needs.
• Help to upskill other members of the team, including other less experienced TLs
• Technical assessment
Required technical skills:
• Understanding of the EPR or general PWR design
• Knowledge and experience in Nuclear Mechanical Equipment Design, Manufacture and Operations
• Technical background on handling equipment such as: cranes, mechanical equipment, rotating equipment, steelwork design, lift design.
• Understanding of Equipment interfaces (safety case, systems engineering, civil interfaces)
• Contract management and document review experience
• Experience using change-management, commercial and deliverable management systems (UKDC, UKICM, OPM, CEMAR, Teamcenter, Navisworks) is advantageous
• IT literate
• Masters or equivalent in an Engineering or Scientific Discipline
