Mechanical Engineer

An opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Design team based in Wigan. The post-holder will be responsible for:

• Preparing complex calculations, comprehensive detailed design Autocad or BIM drawings and specifications for Mechanical Building Services related installations e.g. heating, ventilation, hot & cold water, gas, air conditioning, U values, carbon emission etc.

• Designing full mechanical services for all types of public and commercial buildings providing technical appraisals and feasibility reports with cost estimates. To produce final tender documentation in accordance with professional standards.

• The co-ordination of the design of mechanical building services with other disciplines, and the building layout.

• Managing single discipline schemes and undertaking the contract administration duties, from commission to completion, including contractor payments and final account agreement.

The successful candidate must have design experience in Building Services Engineering (Mechanical) and experience in I.T. and Computer Aided Design and drawing software. You will have a minimum level HND/HNC, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, and will be registered, or eligible for registration with the Engineering Council as a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer.

The post-holder will have good organisational skills and a responsive and flexible attitude. Ideally you will be familiar with, and able to use all relevant Codes of Practice, CIBSE Design Guides, Building Regulations, etc.
