Job description
Job Description
The Chemical & Analytical Development (CHAD) organization serves the interests of Novartis through timely supply of synthetic active pharmaceutical ingredients for clinical and development needs, with responsible process and analytical R&D leading to successful regulatory approval, launch and commercialization.
CHAD associates develop and utilize appropriate methodologies to manufacture and analyze bulk pharma chemicals in a safe, efficient, cost-effective, environmentally responsible and GMP-compliant fashion and through application of expertise in chemistry, engineering and Technical Life Cycle Management.
One of the three Chemical Development Units based on the Basel Campus is looking for an independent and motivated, degree-level educated scientist with proven experience in chemical synthesis and process development.
Responsibilities:
• You will be responsible for the planning, organization and execution of chemical experiments to develop and optimize chemical processes for the manufacture of drug substances. During pilot and manufacturing campaigns, you will provide on-site support if required.
• You will document the generated data, contribute to the interpretation of results and provide summaries in appropriate formats for upload into the respective proprietary Novartis databases (e.g. laboratory journals).
• You will operate laboratory automation equipment and analytical equipment (e.g. HPLC) and will be responsible for setup and maintenance of the assigned laboratory infrastructure and equipment.
• You will work closely with analytical and process development chemists as well as scientists from a diverse range of disciplines within Chemical and Analytical Development.
• Other requirements include a strong technical-scientific background, excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in a team environment.
