The purpose of the role is to provide strategic partnership and support to the Group General Counsel to achieve business objectives and ensures strategic execution. The Strategic Assistant to the Group GC will work with Legal Leadership Team to identify and implement transformation initiatives that improve Legal/IP organization, increases efficiency and further develops the Legal function. He/She will Design, develop and deliver management reporting to the Group General Counsel and provides internal and external communication support. He/She will represent Legal and IP in the Strategy Community and contributes to cross functional strategic initiatives.
Major Accountabilities will include :
• Develop content for the Group General Counsel for Town Hall meetings, the Legal Forum and other internal or external speaking engagements
• Support Group General Counsel to determine and analyze issues, themes and risks to be addressed by the Legal/IP function
• Develop content for and ensure timely delivery of reports, requests and presentations to senior management (e.g., ECN, Board of Directors)
• Review and update of Legal/IP strategy, appraise and evaluate customer feed-back, industry benchmarks and other sources to inform future initiatives
• Execute Legal strategy and provide analysis to support decision making of execution proposals
• Draft or provide input and review communications for Group General Counsel, Division GCs, and Practice Team Heads
• Manage input into quarterly investor relations process, and address ad hoc business-related requests, both local and global
• Lead preparations for Function Reviews with Senior Management or Internal Audit
• Collaborate with members of the Legal Leadership Team to ensure quality and consistency across the Legal/IP annual objectives • Contribute to and act as project lead on teams for strategic initiatives as agreed upon with COO Legal
• Design, lead and communicate results of yearly customer and employee satisfaction surveys
Desired profile
Minimum requirements
• Law degree or Finance master and MBA
• Fluency in English essential; knowledge of at least one other European language preferred
•Strategic management consulting background (e.g., McKinsey, BCG, Bain, LEK, etc)
•Engagement or Senior Engagement Manager within a management consulting firm preferred
•Strong skills in managing cross-functional projects with significant (visible) business impact
•Significant experience, and proven ability to effectively engage & manage associates from widely varying backgrounds & functions within a dispersed and highly matrixed organization
•Capable of being able to influence without authority
•Excellent analytical, process-oriented and data driven mindset
•A proven ability to “see beyond the numbers” and provide analytical insights
