The Biologics Center (NBC) at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) is looking for a qualified Scientific Associate with strong experience in the field of affinity and kinetics determination of biomolecules to join the multidisciplinary Protein Production & Antibodies group in Basel, Switzerland.

You will be responsible for the independent functional characterization of therapeutic biomolecules such as antibodies or proteins, affinity and kinetic measurements using surface plasmon resonance technology (Biacore, ProteOn), ELISA-based methods and other related techniques like Gyro-lab, MSD (meso-scale discovery).

Major accountabilities include:
• Independent planning, execution of experiments and data evaluation
• Perform a variety of analytical sciences techniques, especially in affinity and kinetics determinations of biomolecules using ELISA, SPR (Biacore), and related technologies
• Run various functional assays such as qualitative and competitive binding, concentration de-termination, receptor binding, Gyros-based PK, Biacore-based immunogenicity, epitope map-ping/binning
• Comprehensive documentation of work in lab journal, data bases; writing of reports (submission to health authorities)
• Maintenance of equipment and active participation to lab organization

Desired profile

• Qualification as Lab Technician (apprenticeship/vocational training) or higher degree (Bachelor/Master's) in a relevant life scientific discipline
• Several years of professional experience working in a research laboratory
• Practical experience in analytical sciences, especially in affinity and kinetics determination of biomolecules using SPR (e.g. Biacore) and/or ELISA-based techniques is a plus
• Willingness to acquire expertise with new technologies, and to search information for new methods and equipment
• Outstanding data evaluation- and reporting skills
• Strong quality, result and customer orientation
• Proven ability to work on parallel analytics projects with high degree of flexibility
• Excellent team player with very good communication competency
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and to interact with other labs and customers
• Fluency in English; additional German language skills are advantageous
