Job Title: Pricing and Market Access Manager
Reports to (Job Title): Head of Market Access
Department: Market Access
Job Purpose
Drive the development and implementation of strategy for all patient access, pricing and reimbursement activities for the assigned business franchises (BFs) and to achieve optimal market access on listing, price and reimbursement status;
Prepare market access submissions (dossiers) for relevant National regulatory bodies (e.g. HTA) and regional decision bodies (in-hospital);
Build effective relationships with key influencers, academics and decision makers in order to facilitate bringing and maintaining innovative medicines to market timely, consistent and efficient.
Major Activities
Strategy
Formulates and implements the CPO P&MA strategy for assigned BF, TA or brands.
• Supports the Head of Market Access in defining the broader CPO P&MA requirements for new and existing products.
• Implements Global Pricing and HEOR Strategies in the BF, accurately reflecting the local environment.
• Develops assumptions of price and economic measures for strategic plans and budgets.
• Supports, where required, regional strategic meetings (f.e. Region Europe Early Input Meetings) and early payer input meetings.
• Gives strategic input in local Public Affairs Strategy.
Operations
• Develops and implements high quality P&MA plans for assigned BF, TA or brands.
• Prepares P&MA submissions/value dossiers to relevant regulatory authorities.
• Prepares economic tools/detail aids and other materials that will be used for optimal commercialisation.
• Leads, prioritizes and motivates the activities of cross-functional resources in support of P&MA plans.
• Supports the Head of Market Access in identifying and analyzing key stakeholders for new and existing products.
• Supports development of CPO input to both global and local Pricing and HEOR studies and clinical planning based on CPO needs and priorities.
• Co-ordinates P&MA plans with relevant partners in the Novartis Regional and Global P&MA and HEOR organizations.
• Builds networks and strong relationships with key customers and contributes to the correct positioning and messaging of Novartis products. Creates a leadership position for Novartis CPO in the relevant BF/TA community.
• Develops constructive and long-term relationships with relevant government officials, prescribing influencers, academics, key opinion leaders (KOLs) and payer decision makers for assigned BF and drive the professional image of Novartis.
• Identifies and communicates changes and trends in challenges and needs of payers relative to the product, their decision-making criteria and their stakeholders to support assigned market access teams, brand teams and leadership teams.
• Analyzes the regulatory/competitive price and pricing strategy of competitors for assigned BF.
• Conducts detailed market research and analysis in areas such as demand, competition, and price elasticity to build the case for pricing recommendations within BF.
• Executes and analyzes healthcare and pharmaceutical economic evaluations.
• Analyzes and communicates results from risk-benefit analyses, conceptual economic models and clinical trials to BF business teams and decision forums.
• Prepares tools and supporting materials for negotiation and account teams (National and Regional): e.g. payer messaging and presentation kits.
• Develops Pricing & HEOR models and trials based on customer needs for data and capability within assigned BF. Translates data into relevant concepts to secure market access for Novartis products.
• Closely aligns activities with Public Affairs Strategy.
Key Performance Indicators
For assigned BF, TA or brands:
• Reimbursement/coverage status according to expectations.
• Price versus targets.
• Achieve optimal price – volume curve.
• Achievement of revenue and P&L targets (ROI).
• Time to reimbursement/access.
• Coverage of access, uptake in guidelines.
• Constructive relationships and reputation with key regulators in MoH, HTA, HICs, medical experts and other relevant stakeholders.
• Managed entry agreements achieved and approved, where appropriate.
Desired profile
Minimum requirements
Education (minimum/desirable): Academic ((pharma) economics, epidemiology or healthcare; Minimum: sciences), 2-3 years market access related experience in the pharmaceutical industry;Desirable: PhD in (pharma) economics, epidemiology or healthcare sciences.
Languages: Fluent in Dutch and English (oral and written)
Financial Responsibility: Aligned with brand budgets
Experience/Professional requirement:
1. > 2 years in market access related role in pharmaceutical industry
2. Is able to develop P&MA and HEOR capabilities and operational excellence in the assigned BF.
3. Proven strong working relationships with key functions, including Marketing, Medical, KAM, BPA and Sales managers, Business Unit (BU)/business franchise (BF) Heads and Head of Medical
4. Has experience and ability to lead teams and show leadership in a matrix organization
5. Proven excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills in extensive networking
6. Proven negotiation and conflict management skills
