Under the umbrella of the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR), the Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation (GNF) located in San Diego, California, has the support of a broad collaboration with the entire Novartis research organization, while maintaining the independence to initiate and drive independent research programs.
GNF is currently seeking a highly-motivated postdoctoral fellow to pursue research in the areas of cardiac regeneration and repair specifically focusing on ECM modifications. This position offers a unique and exciting opportunity to utilize GNF’s world-class drug discovery platforms, innovative technologies and resources to pioneer cutting-edge science and therapeutic advancement in this area of high unmet medical need. The candidate will be part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team, dedicated to the discovery of next generation cardiac repair and heart failure therapeutics. The candidate will develop and execute approaches for exploring new biology in the areas of cardiac regeneration, ECM modification and cardiac function preservation. Accordingly, a background and strong interest in cardiovascular biology, cardiomyocyte proliferation, ECM biology and regenerative medicine is highly desired. The ideal candidate must be highly proficient in basic laboratory techniques such as ex vivo cell isolation, cell culture, DNA/RNA/protein analyses and microscopy. Experience on mass spectrometry and in vivo mouse myocardial infarction model will be preferred.

Desired profile
Minimum requirements
The position requires a Ph.D. and/or M.D. in a relevant field of study, such as Cell/Molecular Biology, Physiology, Developmental Biology or Pharmacology, and a successful publication record. Excellent communication, organization, writing and analytical skills are imperative.
