The Occupational Hygiene Technician NSLF provides Novartis Pharma Stein AG - located in the Rhine Valley - with technical assistance by conducting Occupational Hygiene Risk assessments. Initially the primary objective will be conducting air sampling for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) to establish worker exposures and to close data gaps that exist and support compliance with internal standards and local legal requirements. The data collected will ensure risks are categorized scientifically and managed to a safe level. After the baseline air sampling for APIs is completed, the scope of the position will be expanded to other risk assessments including non-API chemicals, noise, ventilation and respirator fit testing.
Major Accountabilities:
Conduct breathing zone API air sampling following the Novartis Chemical Agents Program (CAP)/ Risk-based Exposure Evaluation Process (REEP) during drug substance and products manufacturing at the respective sites as well as FAT/SAT assessments and prepare samples to be shipped to laboratory Maintain and calibrate the air sampling equipment Document the details associated with the air sampling Liaise with the external laboratory that will conduct the air sample analysis Observe activities during air sampling and share HSE observations regarding work practices with site HSE department - When required expand technical capabilities to non-API risk assessment including noise risk assessments, ventilation testing and respirator fit testing. Monitor/supervise use of exposure control measures Maintain exposure monitoring documentation

Desired profile
- Technical training and experience in chemical, pharmaceutical and Laboratory operations
- Fluent in German and ability/willingness to communicate (written and verbally) in English.
- Successful track record at a Novartis site
