Under the umbrella of the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR), the Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation (GNF) located in La Jolla, California, has the support of a broad collaboration with the entire Novartis research organization, while maintaining the independence to initiate and drive independent research programs.

We are seeking a candidate for an Investigator-level position to join our Antibody Therapeutics group. As a member of a team responsible for developing advanced technologies, the individual will work collaboratively with disease area investigators, antibody engineers, protein chemists, and engineers, to develop innovative antibody-based therapeutics.

The applicant will be responsible for:
• Identifying and developing new technologies and hypothesis-driven approaches to enable the design and selection of novel therapeutics including bispecific antibodies.
• Contributing to the design, development, and implementation of platforms for high throughput B-cell antibody discovery and combinatorial antibody screening.
• Collaborating with GNF scientists and engineers to integrate technologies to create novel immunotherapeutics in the context of pre-clinical oncology, immuno-oncology and other disease area drug discovery projects.

Desired profile

Minimum requirements

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent in molecular biology, protein sciences, protein engineering or related discipline with 2+ years post- Ph.D. experience in an academic or industrial setting.

Qualifications: The applicant should have experience leading and conducting research projects as demonstrated by a strong peer-reviewed publication record. Candidate should have a solid background in antibody discovery, single B cell technologies including V-region cloning and antibody engineering (experience with assay development is also desirable). The candidate will also have excellent molecular biology, next-generation sequencing, and protein characterization technical skills as well as deep knowledge of current protein expression technologies. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
