Job description

Job Description

The Chemical Biology & Therapeutics (CBT) department is looking for a highly motivated Associate skilled in research with animals and molecular biology/cell biology. CBT is involved in multiple stages and therapeutic areas of the drug discovery process with a goal of validating targets implicated in diseases caused by pathway deregulation, and testing/progressing drug candidates that modulate these pathways.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Conducting in vivo and ex vivo experiments on animal models of diseases, including colony maintenance of genetic disease models, development and induction of disease models (surgically or chemically-induced), delivery of candidate drug regimens, making clinical observations, and harvesting samples for the evaluation of drug levels, histology, and molecular endpoints.
- Development, implementation and characterization of new animal models in rodents and possibly pigs.
- Execution of standard molecular biology and cell biology techniques in order to support evaluations of pharmacodynamics (i.e. cell, tissue or explant culture, Western blot analyses, ELISAs, quantitative PCR, etc).
- Independent planning, execution, documentation, analysis and interpretation of experiments.
- Presentation of results in both written and oral format and delivery of completed reports within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Contributing to the general lab infrastructure, including ordering of consumables and coordinating with other associates about the workflow, organization, maintenance, and function of lab resources.
- Establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with critical collaborative partners throughout the company.
