Develops systems and tools for site leaders to use to ensure compliance with all pertinent HSE regulations, permits, statutes, local ordinances and/or other externally driven requirements. Develops systems and tools for site leaders to use to ensure conformance with all pertinent Novartis HSE Guidelines, and associated Guidance Notes. Ensures that HSE services are provided to the site in an effective and efficient manner in alignment with business objectives and works directly with business leaders. May serve as the primary point of contact on HSE issues at the site for regulatory authorities and co- ordinates the response to regulatory inspections. Develops effective and efficient HSE Management System and provides direction for the majority of the supporting programs and acts as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for at least three of the programs (e.g., Chemical Safety, Biosafety, Radiation Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Compliance, Occupational Health, Novartis Emergency Management (NEM)) that are appropriate in consideration of the site's complexity, population, regulatory burden/environment, criticality and location. Develops and drives incident response procedures, and guides leaders in effective implementation of the procedures. Develops and drives the risk management program for the site (e.g. Safety Health and Environmental Loss (SHEL) prevention reviews, Business Continuity (if applicable)) Acts as Health, Safety & Environmental Officer (HSEO) for the site, as described in Novartis Guidelines. May manage a small team of HSE professionals.

Desired profile
College/university degree in safety management, industrial hygiene, environmental science, occupational health and/or medicine, engineering, or related field. Fluent in English. At least 7 years of professional experience related to HSE/Business Continuity. For those with supervisory responsibilities. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory role.
