Job purpose:

The key focus of the role is to provide medical/scientific support and information about Alcon’s current and future surgical glaucoma portfolio in line with the agreed medical plan. A specific focus will be to develop, facilitate and implement training and educational requirements linked to Alcon surgical glaucoma products. The Glaucoma MSL will represent the UK/Ireland organisation at both internal and external Regional and Global meetings. This role will require frequent travel, both in the UK and overseas.

Key Responsibilities:

• Productive Scientific Exchange and Thought Leadership in Glaucoma Builds partnerships with external Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) and appropriate organisations, communicating evidence-based scientific and technical development information relating to Alcon surgical glaucoma products.
• Develops and maintains long-term professional scientific partnerships with a range of stakeholders, including investigators, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and HCPs.
• Uses the KOL Development Plans as a platform to engage in scientific discussions related to Alcon research areas/ compounds/ pipeline with Health Care Professionals (HCPs), speakers & investigators.
• Provides proactive support for franchise teams in providing deep market and clinical understanding of the Glaucoma pipeline.
• Collaborates with Alcon and Novartis colleagues to gather, analyse and report insights from all legitimate sources that may impact Alcon developmental plans, trial designs, launch strategies and current brand strategies/tactics.
• Builds and maintains close cross-functional working with Medical, Sales, Marketing and Market Access colleagues.
• Identifies and tracks potential research opportunities that are closely aligned with Alcon product development objectives through facilitating Clinical Research (e.g. non-interventional studies, registries, epidemiology projects, pre-clinical or translational research) as agreed by Medical Affairs.

Desired profile

Minimum requirements

The ideal candidate will have:
• Experience working as a MSL is essential
• Proven experience in Ophthalmology and/or Glaucoma treatment – desired.
• The ability to understand, process, communicate and present scientific information to a high standard.
• Excellent presentation skills.
• External customer focus with strong networking capabilities and integration with KOLs
• The highest ethical standards, with a working knowledge of relevant clinical regulations and industry standards including Good Clinical Research Practice and ABPI Code of Practice.
