Job description
The SCADA Engineer is a multi-disciplined role and covers all levels of Automation, Control and communications. Reporting to the SCADA and Telemetry Team Leader, your main duties will include working with other business areas, providing good quality support and advice; preparing design
documentation for internal project work; actively reviewing and rectifying problems raised in the IS job control system, prioritising and escalating issues as required; and performing system administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
1.Provide clear communication to the SCADA & Telemetry Team Leader on progress of relevant issues in a timely and concise manner
2.Actively review and rectify faults and problems raised in the IS job control system. Acknowledge, prioritise, update, complete calls and escalate issues as required
3.Assist, as required, in the development of the SCADA & Telemetry systems and services to meet the needs of the business as it changes
4.Under the supervision and direction of the SCADA & Telemetry Engineers, provide technical advice and guidance on SCADA & telemetry issues to staff in other departments
5.Develop, amend, review and maintain documentation on the corporate communication infrastructure in line with IS requirements and ensure it is made available to other IS staff
6.Share ideas to promote common approaches to strategy, technology, process, and delivery with other engineers and team leaders in IS
7.Provide resident expertise in SCADA & telemetry systems and technology
8.Undertake project work under the guidance and supervision of the SCADA & Telemetry Engineers
9.In conjunction with the SCADA & Telemetry Team Leader, identify training courses to develop and maintain an understanding of the appropriate equipment and emerging technology
10.Behave in a manner consistent with the aspirations and values of the company
11.In addition: line managers may request employees to carry out other reasonable tasks in line with operational needs.
12.Helping to ensure that the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the company’s information is adequately protected in keeping with the IS Security Policy and Procedures.
Competencies / Qualifications required
With a positive, 'can-do’ attitude, you will possess clear verbal and written communication skills with a passion for delivering excellent customer service. It would be an advantage if you had experience in one or more of ;Process Control, Radio & Satellite Communications, Windows Server 2008/12, Networking, Scripting and Logic Programming, and Project Management however the most important attributes are a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and to develop your full potential in the role. You will be expected to operate within a team and individually, so you should be able to demonstrate you are a good team player and highly self-motivated.
You must hold a full driving licence and own your own vehicle for this role. (business mileage at the appropriate rate will be give).
