Posting Description
Nissan is currently seeking a dynamic individual to fill an opening for a Technologist 2 at our Decherd, TN advanced manufacturing facility.
Nissan's Decherd, TN manufacturing plant is located approximately 85 miles southeast of Nashville, TN and 65 miles west of Chattanooga, TN along Interstate 24. The Powertrain Assembly plant is 1.1 million square feet and has an annual production capacity over 1 million engines. Nissan-Decherd's engine assembly plant produces engines for the Nissan Altima, Maxima, Rogue, Frontier, Titan, Armada, Quest, Pathfinder, as well as several Infiniti vehicles. In addition to engine assembly, Nissan–Decherd also assembles the electric motor for the LEAF, Nissan's 100% electric vehicle. Other production at Nissan-Decherd include: Cylinder Block Machining, Cylinder Head Machining, Crankshaft Machining, Crankshaft Forging, and Cylinder Block Hi-pressure Die Casting.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
-Responsible for assisting QA Engineers in identifying root cause(s) of manufacturing concerns; investigating assembly concerns; coordinating incoming inspection activities & parts inspection; verification of parts quality; performing in-house process audits and maintaining documents on all activities and issuing reports as required.
-Quality Reporting, daily, weekly, and monthly for e-motor, and will prepare quality reporting/ passdowns to other shifts QA technologist.
-Must be a self-starter leading teams in the right direction on their shift for quality concerns/risk always protecting and keeping the customer happy as the primary focus.
-Must lead emergency meetings directing the teams in the off-shift in the right direction.
-Must be prepared to perform quality checks learned from training of other technologist, operating lab equipment, confirming quality concerns using 4M Matrix -->Man/Material/Machine/Method.
-Maintaining Lab equipment upkeep of quality documents and records.
-Must perform quality audits on line Job observations in relation to process sheet, SOS, Drawings, and UNAVI compliance.
-Must champion and lead to solutions, any and all quality concerns found on their shift including root cause analysis, in line defects, vehicle plant defects, customer Warranty concerns.
-Must create technical reports, and or QC Stories sharing findings and solutions for problems.
-Must lead sort containment if a quality issue is found on their shift and lead to a solution to protect the customer short term, and long term.
Minimum Qualifications :
-2 or 4 year degree in technical or quality related fields
-Working automotive engine knowledge
-Problem solving skills, quality control assessment skills such as statistical process control
-Must be able to use Powerpoint, Word, and Excel.
-Must be willing and ready to travel to vehicle plant for audits, sorting, etc
-Must be willing to participate in new motor model team and support during new models in addition to core model
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Desired Requirements:
Engineering degree is a plus, learning testing equipment and some engineering function could be a plus for this position to assist with day-to-day engineering support from the responsible shift. To learn QRQC, Dyno Grading, and understand the importance of e-motor Quality to maintain e-motor quality
