Nissan is seeking a Process Engineer to support our Decherd, TN manufacturing plant.
Nissan's Decherd, TN manufacturing plant is located approximately 85 miles southeast of Nashville, TN and 65 miles west of Chattanooga, TN along Interstate 24. The Powertrain Assembly plant is 1.1 million square feet and has an annual production capacity over 1 million engines. Nissan-Decherd's engine assembly plant produces engines for the Nissan Altima, Maxima, Rogue, Frontier, Titan, Armada, Quest, Pathfinder, as well as several Infiniti vehicles. In addition to engine assembly, Nissan –Decherd also assembles the electric motor for the LEAF, Nissan's 100% electric vehicle. Other production at Nissan-Decherd include: Cylinder Block Machining, Cylinder Head Machining, Crankshaft Machining, Crankshaft Forging, and Cylinder Block Hi-pressure Die Casting.
Job Description:
The Process Engineer will have responsibility for minor model production trial phase through launch as well as current mass production. Primary focus will be leading activities process related for part design changes as well as potential process changes with potential responsibility for current production with emphasis on OEE up activities, Cycle Time reduction, Quality, technical investigations/root cause analysis, and countermeasure activities to eliminate re-occurrences. Applicant will be responsible for all design/minor model changes which includes understanding the impact to job allocations, cost of adoption, potential equipment modifications, new equipment if necessary, etc. They will have direct contact with our Design Partners and be the main contact with them as well as current Manufacturing and Quality groups. Position may include responsibility for inline assembly equipment, testing equipment/parameters as well as new equipment installations. Will work closely with QA, Maintenance and Manufacturing departments on all activities. Will also be responsible for leading cost reduction activities.
Position Requirements:
-Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Will consider candidates with equivalent experience in lieu of degree: 2 years of related experience equals one year of college, plus a minimum of 6 years related experience at a professional level.
-Experience with major model projects is strongly desired
-5 years process and/or product related engineering or Quality Assurance experience preferred
-Must have good computer skills for documentation and data collection/analysis and be able to lead a group of team members.
-Candidate must be technically sound and experience with assembly/testing process preferred but not required.
-Candidate must be willing to travel locally and internationally as required.
