We're currently looking for a Paint Process Engineer to join our team at our Smyrna Manufacturing Plant in Smyrna, TN .
Position Summary:
· Provides engineering planning and project management for new equipment andtooling specificationdevelopment, scope of work, and implementation of facilitymodifications requiredfor new model programs or strategic objectives to improve the total delivery costs of the vehicles.
· Performs studies as required for new model designs or technology changes for the body and fascia painting operations.
· Prepares capital and expense project budgets for new model launches in the paint plants; prepares manufacturing plans for new models and provides support to coordinate new model trails, make facility modifications, develop and maintain process sheets, and develop paint manufacturing aids to process the new models.
· Provides engineering support required to develop and implement new materials including facility modifications; includes new paint colors or annual color program or technology changes.
· Develops and maintains a working relationship with production, maintenance, quality, material suppliers, and automation suppliers to include involvement in cross functional work groups/problem solving teams.
· Schedules andfacilitates meetingsto discussproduction trialobjectives, timelines, concerns, and progress status.
· Provides representation of workgroup and management for cross-functional activity involving other disciplines or plants.
· Benchmarks other Nissan plants and other OEM facilities and products for new technology as it relates to materials and processes for cost savings, manufacturing improvements, and quality improvement initiatives.
· As necessary, performs other related duties of which the above are representative. Demonstrates data driven problem solving methodology and can effectively present work to all levels of management.
Position requirements:
· A bachelor of science degree in engineering or engineering technology with a minimum of 3 years of experience in high volume manufacturing
· Must be a self-motivated individual with good written and verbal communication skills.
· Background in Paint production engineering preferred
· Must have good understanding of root cause analysis, problem solving techniques and process control management for issue resolution.
· Proficient in MS Office applications
· Proficiency in computer design techniques is a plus
