Nissan Motor Parts Center (NMPC) in Amsterdam is Nissan's master depot in Europe. NMPC supplies spare parts and accessories directly to dealers and distributors in Europe and beyond. From our 90.000 m2 warehouse in Amsterdam we distribute some 130.000 different articles in Europe 24 hours a day.

We have an opportunity available to work as a Packaging Engineer in our Warehouse Office team at NMPC on a fulltime basis. At Warehouse office, all warehouse activities are supported.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

The main role of the Packaging Engineer is to validate the packaging proposals offered by the suppliers to be in line with the Global packaging standard & cost.

This person is the key contact during Purchase/Supplier negotiation/selection and implementation. Before every part is supplied, it must be judged and confirmed via a Packaging Proposal Sheet (PPS).

The target is to limit the packaging costs while respecting the part to be supplied in a 100% perfect condition at our end customer according to the Nissan Standard.

Validate PPS documents (including follow up with the suppliers and internally).

Communication and co-ordination with Renault Nissan Purchase Organization (RNPO), Supplier & Warehouse regarding packaging and related projects.

Initiate packaging improvements, including reviewing ergonomics.

Review current packing and initiate cost reductions where possible.

Feedback to supplier in case of packaging problems due to damage including follow up.

Support Total delivered Cost (Tdc) projects as part of the total Logistic cost.

Advice vendor packed and non-vendor packed activities (e.g. packaging operation at NMPC) .

Follow up 3-rd Party operation in the Warehouse.

Responsible for individual projects

Specs setting per part in the Nissan (NEPS) system.

Background & Experience

Education level MBO - HBO (logistics/technical) or equivalent working experience in Logistics environment.

Preferably experience with packaging or packaging operations in a Logistics environment

Good computer skills e.g. Excel and Access/ Analysing tools e.g. database creation.

High accuracy level with flexible attitude.

Hands on mentality/pro-active.

English in written and verbal of good level.

Willing to travel (occasionally)

Shows Initiative.
