Position Title

Harness design engineer

Mission and Main Objectives

To successfully deliver Nissan vehicle projects to market, design & development of electrical and electronic systems to Nissan Design standards. This will include the creation of specifications, management of suppliers and implementation to our production plants Globally.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

·  Development of vehicle harnesses and other electrical components to Nissan design/test standards.
·  Managing Tier 1 suppliers to deliver products to QCT. (Quality, Cost, Timing)
·  Managing in house and supplier validation of components
·  Countermeasure determination with Test groups.
·  Status reporting to management

Additional Tasks and responsibilities (include team management, if any)

To observe and work within Nissan Health and Safety requirements at all times.

Background & Experience

·  Having a broad length of experience working in an OEM for harness development. Including completing a minimum of one vehicle development.
·  Understand electrical theory and the operation of vehicle electrical systems.
·  Electrical system circuit design experience.
·  Harness layout experience.
·  Application experience (design & issue of parts within OEM release/BOM system to meet vehicle specifications).
·  Strong project management skills.
·  Have good communication skills.
·  Be able to travel abroad, typically a few days to 2 weeks, but on rare occasions could be longer.
·  Competent with PC applications. MS office etc.
·  Self motivating and self managing. Pro-active. Positive. Energetic personality and flexible regarding working practice and working hours.
Additionally the following may be an advantage.

·  Knowledge of 3D CAD tools
·  Familiarity with Nissan electrical architecture or other similar automotive architecture
·  Knowledge of harness, plastic part & metal bracket manufacture to manage Tier 1 supplier.
