FINANCIAL CONTROLLING INTERN
12 Month Fixed Contract from July 2018 – July 2019
Paid Vacancy (£15,000 gross p.a.)

The Financial Controlling internship is for candidates who are on their placement year in University/or they have a year in industry as part of their course.
MISSION
This role is located in Doxford International Business Park, Sunderland in the North East of England, within the Nike UK & IE Financial Controlling team. It gives exposure to and involvement across the many areas of the Financial Controlling function, including within the areas of Source to Pay, Indirect Source to Pay, Legal Entity Reporting, Order to Cash, Treasury and Tax.
The focus of the department, and the intern role within that, is the management of daily, monthly and annual financial transactions and processes to ensure the correct and accurate reporting and accounting within the financial statements of the Nike entities. It will provide an excellent platform to anyone looking to further enhance their understanding of how a business operates.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Source to Pay operations, including:
- Purchase Order reconciliation and process improvement
- Liaison with our overseas outsourced service provider
- Balance sheet analysis, review and investigation
Legal Entity Reporting:
- Assist the financial month-end close in preparing of accruals/ prepayments for opex spend in accordance with US GAAP and Nike Accounting policies
- Account reconciliations and various analyses supporting month end/quarter end financials
Indirect Source to Pay:
- Assist in the payroll accounting process – working to create efficiencies and streamlining
- Assist in the recording, review and reporting process for tangible fixed assets
Order to Cash - Assist in cash reconciliation and accounting across the Nike Retail portfolio
Project work – assist in multiple centrally led projects across the financial Controlling function
Desired profile
Qualifications :
· Currently undertaking a degree with exposure to Accounting and Business.
· Good commercial awareness
· Proven track record of success throughout Education to date
· Excel literate to include database and pivot table creation and manipulation
· Strong Analytical skills and ability to create and interpret key financial data
· Flexibility as urgent work requirements and timelines change
· Ability to multi-task and work well under deadline driven pressure
· Strong inter-personal skills with excellent verbal and written communication
· Professional and hard-working but with an ability to do so whilst fitting into the Nike “relaxed”/friendly culture
