TITLE: CONTROLS/PROCESS ENGINERER (Job Posting #55-1-17)

Full time, salaried position

Reports to:Process Engineering/QA Manager

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Controls/Process Engineer is responsible for developing and improving manufacturing processes as they apply to the production of wire and cable products ensuring a quality product at a competitive cost. He/she will accomplish Engineering tasks that require technical data gathering and analysis, problem identification and resolutions, process evaluation, cost improvements and capital project identification, justification and implementation. Position is also responsible for developing PLC programs and HMI graphics for real-time control and monitoring.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

· Investigate manufacturing engineering problems to determine root cause of manufacturing defects or failures and make recommendations to correct by suggesting design changes, process or equipment changes, and tooling modifications
· Identify and develop concepts for cost reduction through continuous improvement process
· Work with QA Department to ensure new product designs meet applicable performance criteria
· Work with Production to create procedures and SWI. Train Operators on those procedures
· Analyze manufacturing process capabilities of new products to identify potential production issues
· Use electrical/control systems and PLC programs to troubleshoot process issues and make modifications as required
· Measure and document all improvements
· Evaluate new raw material suppliers
· Develop and maintain a machine standards database
· Maintain machine tooling drawings
· Deal with customer or supplier product issues through corrective actions.
· Support for Nexans Excellence Way (NEW) daily management
· Ensure all health and safety regulations are enforced and complied with and that precautions are taken in order to prevent potential hazards.
· Keep abreast of technological developments that would improve products, processes and/or procedures.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

· Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills are a must
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Excellent organizational skills
· Allen-Bradley PLC programming and Wonderware or other HMI programming
· Good information systems and database skills
· Ability to learn equipment, processes, products and standards
· Needs to be hands-on
· Good problem-solving skills
· Ability to prioritize and effectively handle several projects simultaneously
· Wire Drawing, Plastic Extrusion, Aluminum forming, PVC compounding experience would be beneficial
· University degree in Mechanical/Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering along with 2+ years experience in a manufacturing environment
· Knowledge of Oracle, MS-ACCESS, Networks
· Knowledge of Solid Works
· Occasional after hours work and calls
