Why join us in that role?
You will responsible for the purchasing of commodities in our plant, in El Dorado, U.S. You will develop and deploy the commodity strategic plans and manage supplier relationships.
Other areas of responsibility include following of current market conditions and influences, vendor selection, vendor product qualifications and approvals, price negotiation, contract implementation and supplier follow-up and continuous improvement programs.
- Meet with business operations to understand the needs and specifications for our raw materials requirements.
- Meet with business operations to understand our volumes and factors that influence our ability to forecast our raw material requirements.
- Identify and work with suppliers that can meet or exceed the material specifications required for our business
- Understand current market pricing and factors / trends that influence pricing, availability or quality of products or services
- Negotiate pricing and commercial terms that keep Nexans competitive or provides Nexans a competitive advantage in the market place.
- Support, through the identification of new / alternate raw materials or services, plant or engineering innovation projects.
- Identify and eliminate monopolistic conditions (remove risk) for key or critical raw materials.
- Follow and resolve supplier issues with respect to quality of product or service.
- Provide monthly reports on market conditions or pricing evolutions in the supplier base.
- Participate with corporate Paris purchasing team (family coordinators, council managers, working group leaders) in sharing information, leveraging worldwide contracts and providing information specific to the North American market.
- Negotiates with vendors and suppliers to reduce supplier lead times.
- Monitors and ensures on-time delivery of raw materials from vendors and suppliers.
What do we expect from you?
Master degree in the field of business administration, Engineering school (polymer) or purchasing related studies
Research, analytical, and diagnostic skills
Knowledgeable of Quality System implementation
Familiar with Manufacturing Processes
Prior experience with an MRP system preferred
