Junior Digital Designer

Are you a recent graduate or student looking for your first big break into a digital design career?
At Newt, you will play a key part in helping us create beautiful and engaging digital user experiences. We want bright, talented people who are passionate about design, brilliant customer experience and know how to make it happen.

You’ll need experience of creating appealing designs for interactive digital devices, and you’ll have a healthy appetite for making the complex look simple. You’ll be familiar with the tools used to make digital designs, including the Adobe Creative Suite, Invision, Sketch and InDesign.

You’ll be willing to learn, as you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside and learn from some of the most experienced UXers in the business. You’ll gain first-hand experience that will kick start your design career.

The role
You’ll work closely with User Experience designers and Service Designers on client-facing and internal strategy and design projects
You’ll gain wide experience working with large corporates and big SMEs across Newt’s portfolio of clients and sectors
You’ll play a key role in a highly collaborative team, working in fast-paced design environment in central London

Please note
The role is based in London, though some travel within UK and Europe may be required
You will need to be free to live and work in the UK – sorry, we’re not able to deal with work permits at the moment.

Desired profile

Essential skills and qualifications
A relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
A passion and ability to use visual language to communicate complex things simply
The ability to create beautiful, engaging, and compelling digital artefacts
Solid appreciation of the principles of graphic design, e.g. colour theory, typography, composition, etc.
A good understanding of the principles of interface design, e.g. usability, accessibility, etc.
A real eye for detail – nothing will escape your notice, however small
A good understanding of responsive design
Proficiency in Photoshop, Sketch and Indesign
Proficiency in the usual productivity software, MS Office etc.

Nice to have
Experience designing for native iPhone & Android devices
Illustration – e.g. being able to sketch characters and scenarios
