Position Summary
This position is responsible for stimulating veterinary recommendations of the Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets line of pet food and enhancing the reputation of all Nestlé Purina PetCare products. This is done by communicating the latest research on pet nutrition, the value of the PPVD diets, and the importance of nutrition in managing various disease states to veterinarians and clinic staff. The successful applicant will be responsible for covering the Southwestern Ontario territory (including but not limited to London, Windsor, Sarnia).
Major Responsibilities
Promotes Purina to veterinarians and clinic staff and influences veterinarians to recommend Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets:
· Develops and conducts veterinary educational seminars on pet nutrition and Purina products for the nutrition and treatment of healthy and sick animals.
· Ensures a high level of nutritional knowledge is maintained to influence the sales environment.
· Represents Purina at trade shows and other CE events
Accountable for business development within the territory.
· Conducts business reviews for the clinics.
· Develops business plans and executes promotions with the clinics with the information and direction provided by the Regional Manager and the Marketing Team.
· Fosters effective working relationships within the territory in order to enhance Purina's image and grow sales.
Reports to the Regional Sales Manager on their own field activity and that of the competition and provides feedback and status on promotions for building pre and post evaluations.
Performs clinic coverage:
· Performs veterinary clinic coverage based on established call frequency and demand.
· Sells incremental opportunities for Nestlé Purina Canada leveraging National/Regional initiatives.
· Transmits clinic and call information directly into sales system database for review, verification and analysis.
· Provides exceptional customer service
Qualifications
· Completion of a University Degree. A Science, Nutrition, or Veterinary Degree an asset.
· 1-2 years of progressive sales experience in field sales or key accounts.
· Experience within the veterinary industry an asset.
· Proven experience using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience in working in SAP environment an asset.
· Strong problem solving, strategic business thinking and analytical skills.
· Excellent communication and presentation skills.
· Excellent time management skills.
· Superior interpersonal skills.
· Candidate must reside within the territory or be willing to relocate and must be able and willing to travel as required based on territory needs.
· Candidate must possess a full valid Driver's License and a clean driving record.
