Job description

Nestec York Ltd

Product Technology Centre - york

York based

STATISTICAL Specialist

Salary between £30,000 and £40,000 depending on experience + excellent companywide benefits

Based in York, the Nestlé Product Technology Centre (NPTC) is part of a global network of Research Centres focusing purely on excellence in confectionery worldwide. Whether chocolate, confectionery or wafer-based treats, the NPTC leads the way in how they're developed, processed and packaged. It's a place where creativity meets practicality, but where being pragmatic doesn't hinder ideas. If anything, it calls for more expertise and ingenuity to make fantastic initial concepts become exceptional industrialised ideas.

What can you expect?
NPTC York currently has an excellent opportunity for an R&D Statistical Specialist to pro-actively support and advise our project teams with the technical knowledge and insight required to enable us to deliver consumer preferred products. This is a great opportunity for an experienced and talented statistician to lead statistical analysis in projects across the business, using Design of Experiments and statistical modelling to gain product and process mastership.

Other responsibilities include:

· Demonstrating and document knowledge of the latest methods, trends and developments
· Preparing and delivering relevant training for Nestlé staff and act as the point of contact for NPTC York in the Statistics for Quality and Product network, contributing actively to its activities.
· Provide support to Nestlé Factories and R&D Centres worldwide in the field of Statistical Process Control and defect reduction.

Who are we looking for?
As you will be working under minimum supervision within multidisciplinary teams, strong communications skills, including the ability to influence and communicate statistics to a non-technical audience, are a key requirement. Applicants should have significant industrial/academic research experience, ideally with previous exposure to Food & Beverage products and Process Technology – either through Operations or R&D project work.

Excellent all-round statistical knowledge is required, including:
· Design of Experiments
· Statistical modelling
· Statistical Process Control
· Ability to program in R, Matlab or VBA

A Masters or PhD in statistics and an awareness of machine learning would be preferred.

What you need to know
We offer the chance to flex and grow your skills and take on new challenges. Nestlé is a demanding environment but one that offers support and encourages personal development and growth.

The closing date for this role is Friday 13th July 2018

We will be reviewing applications as they apply, so please don't delay in submitting your application. We're looking forward to hearing from you.

Nestlé UK&I is committed to equal opportunity for all. We may collect relevant data for monitoring as part of our candidate registration process.
