The Nestlé Institute of Health Sciences (NIHS) has recently been established to deliver world class excellence in biomedical research to better understand health and disease as influenced by genetics, metabolism and environment with the goal of translating this knowledge into personalized science-based nutrition.

The Institute combines latest technologies and biomedical knowledge to study the molecular mechanisms of chronic disease. Large-scale omics capabilities including genomics, proteomics, lipidomics, metabolomics and nutritional profiling are integrated with bioinformatics and systems biology to generate holistic molecular insights into nutritionally actionable conditions. Using this integrated approach we are developing nutritional approaches to prevent disease and facilitate healthy aging.

Demonstrating excellent organizing skills and willingness to learn, you will be working in a dynamic, multi-cultural and interdisciplinary research environment. In this role you will be contributing experimentally to research projects by delivering chemical characterization of biological samples for biomarker or bioactive discovery, including structure elucidation of small molecules.

Key responsibilities
·  Set-up analysis of biological samples by NMR metabolomics (sample preparation, acquisition, data analysis)
·  Management of NMR activities, laboratory and equipment, including troubleshooting
·  Development of NMR metabolomics strategies to serve on-going projects and contribute to publications/patents
·  Run operational activities of the lab (maintenance of infrastructure, purchasing/servicing of equipment, ordering of consumables, and coordination of booking systems...). Act as laboratory safety official.

Education and experience
·  CFC as a lab technician in chemistry or Bachelor/Master degree in Analytical Chemistry
·  At least 1-2 years demonstrated experience in chemical analysis
·  Hands-on experience with MS, LC-MS, HPLC or GC
·  Experience with NMR will be considered an advantage
·  Experience in laboratory organization & maintenance
·  Fluency in English
