Job description

Responsibilities

The Inventory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating warehouse activities such as shipping and receiving, maintaining an open dialogue with customers (vendors, clients, colleagues & employees), storing, maintaining inventory levels, ordering, supervising employees and reporting any issues to management in order to support USH Technical Services with the daily operations and leadership of the department.

Responsibilities:

• Plans layout of stockroom, warehouse, and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors of items stored
• Advises employees on care and preservation of items received, stored, and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, and shipping stock; and related problems
• Studies records and recommends remedial actions for reported unusable, slow moving, and excess stock
• Reviews records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures, and to determine adequacy of stock levels
• Schedules work for special and periodic inventories
• Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies
• Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
• Issues written and oral instructions
• Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
• Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency.
• Prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates
• Adjusts errors and complaints
• Assists in maintaining the physical properties of the warehouse
• Trains employees on all aspects of their job within operation
• Submits weekly, monthly and other special services billing to customer services representatives
• Prepares work schedules and reacts quickly and effectively regarding unexpected labor needs
• Manages labor hours in electronic timekeeping system
• Provide work direction, counseling, and coaching to hourly staff
• Participation in reward and recognition, employee events, and ESAT action planning
• Lead initial accident investigations following incidents
• Coaches and motivates Technical Services hourly team members to promote safe and efficient operations while also exceeding client expectations of communication, responsiveness, quality of service, and technical efficiency.
• Develop and implements programs to improve client and employee satisfaction. Ensure appropriate and timely investigation and responses to guest and employee concerns
• Ensures that all safety procedures are understood and followed by providing up to date safety training to all employees and auditing procedures
• Ensures that collective bargaining agreements are upheld by partnering with HR and Labor Relations to maintain positive union relationships
• Performs other duties as assigned

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This position will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and can be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold including climates consistent with outside weather conditions.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college/technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• 3-5 years of warehouse/inventory experience
• 1-2 years of operations management/team leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability & willingness to work overtime, weekends and holidays with short notice
• Ability and willingness to respond to incidents in locations requiring climbing, fall-protection, and other non-traditional work-environments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
• Ability & willingness to work non-traditional hours, weekends and holidays with short notice
