Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· To work closely with the Post Production Manager and the Production Team to maintain the smooth running of MCR and delivery of assets to schedule.
· Creating files for TX, online, social and Off Air content. Excellent knowledge of file formats, codecs, wrappers and creating file profiles is essential.
· Accurate media and storage management utilising AvidInterplay, Avid Media Composer/Symphony. Avid Central and Avid Isis as per workflows.
· Ensuring output is technically correct, being confident in using key equipment to assist the process such as Content Agent and QC software such as Vidchecker.
· Managing MCR bookings, ensuring that any issues or delays are reported to the relevant Production Co-ordinator.
· Troubleshooting basic technical problems in the Avid Online, Pro Tools audio suites and Creative laptops before referral to Engineering Support.
· Local training of freelancers on our bespoke workflows and media management.
· Along with the Post Production Manager supervise & suggest shoot workflows.
· Create and manage assets for out of house audio, grade and online sessions.
· Reporting technical problems or faulty equipment as they arise and escalating if necessary.
· Strive to ensure all our output is technically Ofcom compliant and report if the output cannot meet expected standards.
· Perform ad hoc requests for the Post Production Manager and Director of Production.
· Maintain and improve current knowledge of relevant technology and practises to provide support for the Creative services management and development of strategy.
· Assist in the planning and implementation of new equipment in a proactive way.
· Ensure close relationships are established with key internal departments to uphold and improve working practises.
· Collaborate with the wider team to ensure the smooth production of required material, making sure this meets the required technical standards within the agreed time constraints.
· Help to develop, review and maintain appropriate documentation and guides on local knowledge for Creatives and freelance staff.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
· Proven experience as a technical operator in a broadcast or facility environment (with perhaps a background in tech QC).
· Solid experience of the Avid family of products such as Avid ISIS, Avid Interplay, Avid Central and Media Composer/Symphony in a professional environment.
· Good working knowledge of Content Agent(or similar encoding engine)and QC software such as Vidchecker.
· Proven working knowledge of end to end file based workflows.
· Basic editing skills eg shortening sequences, adding clocks.
· Proven technical knowledge and a keen interest in new technology developments.
· Good communication and people skills.
· Ability to give guidance and to train others.
· Ability to handle non-routine queries and can resolve issues from application of previous experience.
· Ability to improve existing services/processes by seeking and implementing concepts from sources outside the department/company.
· Ability to create strong relationships.
· Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage several projects simultaneously.
· Have active responsibility for own training and development.
· Promptly intervene when results may not be achieved; taking timely decisions and appropriate action to bring things back on course.
· Experience in working in a multi-channel environment.
· Accuracy with great attention to detail.
