Responsibilities

The PHP Developer will be a developer for building and maintaining a state-of-the-art sports content management system for Rotoworld.com, NBC Sports Group's flagship fantasy sports news and information website. The developer will work as part of a team responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining features of the web site and the internal systems used to create it. The Developer works as part of a group of passionate technologists with a clear charter to deliver the best possible sports-related web and mobile applications available. Each member of the team works with a wide degree of creativity and latitude.

Responsibilities

·  Design and develop features for Rotoworld.com and other NBC Sports Group properties such as NBCSports.com and NBCOlympics.com

·  Implement sophisticated user interfaces using industry standard technologies and techniques

·  Support web servers and other servers via scheduled maintenance, performance tuning, and monitoring

·  Provide feasibility reviews for potential new projects, including development effort estimates

·  Build applications to agreed upon specifications within the required timeframe and budget

·  Architect new features for Rotoworld and manage the implementation of all CMS functionality.

·  Demonstrate deep understanding of LAMP performance and configuration

·  Conduct peer-reviews of PHP application code, ensuring that all code complies with team standards

·  Work with Database Developers to design new features with attention to performance and scalability

·  Work with Customer Service and QA to identify and address reported issues quickly and effectively

Basic Qualifications

·  Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience

·  Minimum three (3) years developing web sites using PHP and Drupal

·  Experience developing for a large scale commercial web application

·  Comfortable coding HTML, CSS, JavaScript/jQuery

·  Experience managing and deploying AWS-based web applications

·  Understanding of MVC frameworks and Docker-based containerization

·  Ability to clearly communicate ideas and status updates to both technical and non-technical resources

·  Able to work independently and as a member of a large team
