Responsibilities

Role Summary

The NOC On-Air Operations Manager is an integral member of Network Origination Center (NOC) On-Air team, which is responsible for the origination and distribution of 19 NBCU Cable brands and over 65 distribution channels. This On-Air Operations Manager will primary be responsible for maintaining and ensuring the On-air Reliability of the News & Entertainment networks, although will be called upon to work on all Sports, News & Entertainment, and International networks.

The NOC On-Air Operations Manager will have to partner with the engineering and automation teams to drive operational improvements. This Operations Manager will be responsible for maintaining the On-air training matrices and all operational SOPs.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities):

·  Plan Live events across all News & Entertainment cable properties

·  Coordinate transmission feeds from fiber and satellite vendors

·  Work with the different brands to develop contingency plans for live events

·  Create Live event SOPs and operational guidelines

·  Partner with engineering to test all critical on-air systems

·  Lead operational training for various automation systems

·  Troubleshoot issues (process & system), identify root causes, and proactively implement sustainable corrective actions

·  Assist with the onboarding of new employees via detailed training and facility tours

·  Work closely with the Global Client Operations group to coordinate C3 and TVE records

·  Manage projects related to the execution or enhancement of News and Entertainment channels

·  Occasional off-hours support may be necessary to address outages or pressing system issues

·  Able to support nights and weekend live events

Qualifications/Requirements

·  5+ yrs experience in an On-air broadcast environment

·  3+ yrs experience of overall understanding and knowledge of the television production process, broadcast operations, and news/sports/entertainment technical production requirements

·  3+ yrs work experience showing strong computer, communication, and facilitation skills

·  3+ yrs experience demonstrating the ability to effectively lead, prioritize, energize, and coach others

·  3+ yrs work experience in a fast paced environment requiring troubleshooting and process skills, and exhibiting an ability to effectively lead, prioritize and adapt to changing scenarios

·  A track record of meeting or exceeding performance expectations

·  Experience successfully communicating with management, both verbally and in writing

·  Excellent interpersonal skills; able to communicate effectively with large team in high-pressure situations

·  Proficient with Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook

·  Self-starter that demonstrates initiative and ability to work independently with little supervision;

·  Must be able to work in Englewood Cliffs, NJ

·  Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

·  Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights and/or weekends
Desired Characteristics

·  Experience in US Media & Entertainment environment preferred

·  BA/BS in related field

·  5+ yrs experience related field

·  Extensive and significant experience, understanding and knowledge of digital broadcast and production technical systems, standards and processes

·  Technical experience with automated, real-time systems, digital video and audio, troubleshooting and test techniques

·  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·  Positive attitude and advocate who promotes high employee morale

·  Proven leadership, high energy level and strong people management skills

·  Should possess strong interpersonal skills for interacting with staff at all levels and clients

·  Strong team-building and customer relations skills

·  Experience with TV playback, scheduling, & distribution systems and operations

·  Able to build and present PowerPoint presentations to effectively communicate a message in a short and clear manner

·  Must be process-oriented and able to apply structure to complex problems

·  Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and communicate effectively with all stakeholders

·  Experience with cable and media industry or integrated systems a plus
