Responsibilities

Role Purpose

The Manager of Production Engineering is responsible for leading a team of Engineers and Technicians in the support of all television production activities in NBC Sports' Stamford, CT facility. The position is responsible for the day-to-day support as well as short and long-term strategic planning of all broadcast technology, and production technical support. This position will oversee technical support of studio production for NBC Network, NBCSN, NBC Olympics as well as sports programming on other NBC distribution channels.

Responsibilities

·  Provide the highest possible “quality of service”, by providing technical and operations excellence for the facility enabling it to provide compelling programming and service to its viewers, clients, and partners.

·  Provide front line Engineering maintenance support of all the teleproduction systems working with and alongside a team of engineers

·  Assist with detailed estimates to support new production initiatives and technology replacement cycles.

·  Assist with the development of the business' technology strategies including development of the capital/operating plans and management of multiple projects.

·  Lead, mentor and develop the performance and efficiency of the Engineering team

·  Facilitate the development and training of engineering employees including the development of a short and long range training plan.

·  Coordinate engineering technology and facility needs with the facilities team.

·  Assist with department budgets, forecasts, plans, and reports.

·  Oversee the requisitions for replacement and new equipment and work with the VP of Engineering on the facility's technological planning and development.

·  Provide proactive tracking of maintenance needs, development of routine preventative maintenance schedules and have primary ownership of the maintenance tracking system.

·  Assist with projects within the area of responsibility and provide tracking of project budgets, schedules to ensure on time delivery of all projects and commitments.

·  Oversee the Change Management process and ensure compliance.

·  Ability to provide calm and consistent direction under the pressure of LIVE television shows.

·  Ability to determine the root cause of an issue, orchestrate a solution and provide detailed written and oral descriptions of the issue to the client base and management.

·  Oversee security and assurance needs for broadcast infrastructure and work with the corporate IT group to ensure compliance.

·  Ability to work overnights and weekends as required by Project and Plant support needs.

Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Qualifications

·  Hands on direct knowledge of broadcast television technologies including Analog/SD/HDSDI Video, 5.1 multi-channel audio, Audio/Video signal routers, Control Room facilities, character generators/graphics playout systems, video servers, VTRs, digital compression, satellite and RF systems and broadcast test and measurement equipment.

·  Experience with IT based technologies/processes including Networking, SAN and NAS Storage architectures, asset management systems, server technologies including hardware architectures, real-time systems and custom application development.

·  Networking and operating system trouble shooting skills in a broadcast video environment are essential.

·  Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Broadcast Production Technology, or equivalent work experience.

·  Minimum 2 years of Prior supervisory experience with a broadcast production engineering team focused on Studio, Control room and Core Systems.

·  5 – 8 years of background in live studio production and support.

·  5 – 8 years of hands-on troubleshooting experience.

·  Excellent verbal and written communications skills

·  Proficiency in AutoCad, Visio, the MS Office Suite, and related applications.

·  Willingness to travel and to work Overnight Schedules/7 days a week with short notice depending on production needs.

·  Must have a valid driver's license
