Role Summary and Purpose
Lead a driven and highly motivated team to support the distribution of NBC Universal, one of the world's leading media and entertainment companies.
As Manager of Affiliate Operations, at NBC Universal (NBCU), you will be responsible for leading the distribution and support of NBCU's broadcast and cable properties to MVPD, dMVPD and affiliate partners. This role will manage and empower a staff that executes on a diverse portfolio of responsibilities, including: MVPD and dMVPD on-boarding, IRD validation and management, channel access activations and de-activations, traditional and digital transmission monitoring and closed captioning compliance. You will oversee and manage program replacement and blackout systems across all traditional and digital platforms. As a face of Global Media Operations to internal clients, partners and in some circumstances the public, Affiliate Operations plays a key liaison, support, troubleshooting and escalation role on behalf of NBCUniversal. This role is responsible for ensuring the company is represented in the proper way. Additionally, the Manager, Affiliate Operations, will partner with clients and internal teams to work on strategic initiatives aimed at increased reliability, productivity, and growth. Finally, you will also be accountable for measuring and controlling quality across the on-air environment, by driving best practice training, technology, and workflows.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
· Lead Operations and Support personnel to ensure the availability and reliability of NBCUniversal assets distributed to partners and the end consumer
· Coach, mentor, lead, train, and manage a diverse team for overall organizational success
· Own and manage strong working relationships with the MVPD and dMVPD communities
· Oversee the end-to-end affiliate on-and off-boarding processes, including activations, deactivations, IRD management and scaling of channels as the business evolves
· Own and manage end-to-end support of the MVPD and dMVPD affiliate partner base including IRD management, troubleshooting and associated reporting
· Oversee program replacement and blackout management across all traditional and digital platforms
· Partner with engineering to monitor traditional and digital (terrestrial IP) signal transmission.
· Lead strong partnership with our engineering and digital teams to implement new technologies, resolve partner issues, and maintain minimal on-air disruption
· Work directly with distribution partners and clients to resolve issues, satisfy on-air needs and execute changes to our distribution footprint in a dynamic environment
· Partner with the leadership team to develop technological and operational enhancements

Qualifications/Requirements
· Minimum of 4 yrs experience in Media Operations
· Minimum of 4 yrs experience in a role with a track record of proven leadership, effective staff management, high energy level, and strong team skills
· Minimum of 3 yr experience leading a support team to effective issue resolution
· Willingness and ability to work or be on call at any time, sometimes on short notice in order to support a 24/7/365 operation

Desired Characteristics
· BA/BS in related field
· Extensive and significant experience, understanding and knowledge of digital broadcast and distribution systems, standards and processes
· Strategic project management leadership
· Technical experience with digital video and audio, troubleshooting and test techniques
· Prior experience with Cisco distribution equipment
· Experience with scheduling and resource management
· Strong attention to detail, communication and interpersonal skills
· Effectively flexible in approach, and responds well to pressure
· A track record of meeting or exceeding performance expectations
