Responsibilities

Summary: Responsible for providing client services and technical support for all EHS aspects within an assigned line of business or department at Universal Studios Hollywood in pursuit of continuous environmental, health & safety improvement and growth of a business-wide safety culture.Responsibilities include trends analysis and associated action planning, investigations of near misses, concerns or incidents, risk assessments, change management, new initiatives and involvement with program/procedure development and implementation.

Essential Functions

·  Evaluates EHS risks and prescribes the necessary preventative and/or corrective measures in coordination with the EHS and area management teams.Tasks are evaluated for risk as part of routine inspections, audits, investigations, trends and assessments.Appropriate action planning and corrective measures are prioritized across the business/shift using risk ranking tools.
·  Facilitates and maintains effective communication with management, team members and peers regarding EHS program implementation, hazard identification, trends, and progress against goals.Communication mechanisms include generating routine reports and scorecards, safety postings, area walk and talks with team members and participating in committees and management meetings.
·  Assists the management team during incident investigations, concern reports, near misses and emergent issues.
·  Ensures that inspections, audits and drills are completed on schedule, documented as required and tracked to closure according to annual goals and EHS program requirements.
·  Completes EHS assessments as assigned to include:PPE, JSA, Ergonomic, IH, Training, Medical Surveillance, or other element.
·  Performs classroom facilitation of training content on a variety of Environmental Health and Safety topics. Must be able to comfortably articulate objectives of material, maintain decorum and control of an audience, and provide administrative support for long term documentation and records retention.
·  Supports the Industrial Hygiene program by performing field assessments, basic interpretation of data, complete necessary documentation, and share results with clients.
·  Chemical Management – administers the requirements of the Chemical Management program and drives compliance with applicable regulations.Coordinates completion of area chemical inventories & audits.Reviews and approves chemicals for use at facility.Maintains active/approved chemical list for the business ensuring compliance with current MSDS information readily available.Drives awareness and continuous improvement related to chemical labeling, storage & handling.
·  Responds to safety concerns reported to the Safety Hotline/Concern Reporting system.Takes action to resolve client/customer service requests raised to the Department.Actively participates and supports department driven activities, events, safety committees, etc.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in a safety, occupational health or environmental curriculum preferred or equivalent and proven work experience.
• 3-5 Years of experience working in the Safety and Occupational Health field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Willingness to work overtime, and/or on weekends with short notice
• Must be willing to work at the Park in Universal City
• Must have strong computer skills and familiarity with MS Office Suite
• Must be willing to take drug test and submit to a background investigation
• Must be 18 years or older
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
• Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU's Alternative Dispute Resolution Program
• Prior theme park or amusement park employment experience highly desired
Desired Characteristics

• Professional designation such as CSP, CIH, OHST, CEM or other nationally recognized professional designation preferred but not required.
• Strong oral and written communicator.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
