Responsibilities
Responsible for assisting the day-to-day production workflow for writing staff.
DreamWorks Animation Television has an exciting new opportunity for a Writers' Assistant to join its team based in Glendale, California.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Takes notes during internal Writer's meetings and distribute notes with writing team.
•Take notes during weekly development meetings and Executive Producer meetings and distributes information to the team afterwards.
•Helps track script and series continuity to help Writers.
•Ensure that notes are accurately transcribed, saved in the appropriate format and distributed.
•Take notes during script breakdowns, input changes from breakdown for Head Writer to review.
•Conform scripts to edited dialogue, locked animatic, and locked picture. Must ensure that Writers always make revisions on recently conformed scripts.
•Generate conform drafts and cast lists for P1 and P2 outputs.
•Keep track of outstanding notes and ensure that Writers are always addressing the full range of notes for revisions.
•Attend production meetings and provide departmental writing updates. Communicate to team upcoming revisions expected to impact story, design/assets, and records.
•Responsible for proofreading and distributing all premises, outlines, script drafts and revisions.
•Catalogue premises, outlines and script submissions.
•Partner closely with Casting/Talent Relations on new character roles.
•Flags potential writing issues to Line Producer and/or Production Manager.
•Stays abreast of notes meetings and regularly elevates information appropriately to Line Producer and/or Production Manager.
•Coordinate with story department and Writers to ensure realistic, appropriate deadlines for script revisions. Communicate with Writers to ensure that they are aware of their deadlines.
•Coordinate with Executive Producers to ensure availability for relevant reviews and feedback for salient material.
•Updates and organizes files and database of all premises, outlines and drafts of each script, including submissions.
•Distribute log lines to Executive in Charge and/or Marketing as requested.
•Distribute and update the weekly script status report and coordinate the writing schedule; give updates at regular production meetings.
•Ensure that notes are received in a timely manner.
•Track and provide cast list with line counts for every script draft to other Production Staff and to Casting/Talent Relations when applicable.
•Partner closely with Casting/Talent Relations to ensure studio guidelines are followed and elevate concerns to Line Producer/Production Manager when appropriate.
•Manage calendar for Writers to ensure they are available for relevant meetings.
•Responsible for creating the show's Series Bible. This includes creating detailed episode summary lists, descriptions for characters, props, and salient locations.
•Send scripts to Legal department for clearance. Ensuring that all script changes for Legal are effectively communicated to the team and implemented by all departments.
•Serve as main point of contact between production and the writing room. Answer story questions from production personal when appropriate and loop in Writers/Producers when necessary.
•Assist Writers in administrative tasks including filing JIRAs, printing, file organization, creating office order lists, cleaning up room, create and track expense reports, etc.

Qualifications/Requirements
• Minimum 1 year of previous TV animation production experience required.
• Software requirements: Final Draft, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced production environment.
• May be requested to provide writing samples for consideration.
Desired Characteristics
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
