for the Reinsurance Development Central Division

The Reinsurance Development Central Division bundles all of the tasks involving strategy development and implementation, organization design, interdisciplinary client-management functions, data analytics and innovation management for the reinsurance segment of Munich Re. The data engineering team builds up the data lake together with IT to enable new services and business models across the company. For this challenging position, we are looking for a data engineer to accelerate the digital remodelling and transformation of the MR Group to a data-driven organisation.

YOUR JOB
·  Participate in the data strategy of the Munich Re group in order to identify data requirements and find the appropriate means to fill these needs (e.g. by acquisition, partnerships, their own activities, etc.)
·  Define the demands on the infrastructure of the MR Data Lakes on the basis of Hadoop, SAP HANA and SAS, in close cooperation with IT
·  Ensuring data-Lake access to all relevant internal data sources from global and local systems
·  Prepare, provide and quality assure external data sources e.g. telematics, social media or weather data, for use in further analyses
·  Participation in the implementation of big data pilots and analytics use cases in joint teams together with Business and IT, to generate measurable business benefits from data
·  Build up and maintain a data-governance organisation in MR Group with the goal of ensuring the maximum and broadest use of data which is legally and ethically admissible

YOUR PROFILE
·  University degree in computer science, applied mathematics or an equivalent qualification
·  Sound experience with data modelling, data intake and data-curation procedures as well as outstanding SQL skills, incl. advanced concepts such as distributed queries and spatial queries
·  Very good technical knowledge of Hadoop Stack (Hive, Spark etc.) or SAP HANA Stack (HANA Text Engine, HANA Spatial etc.)
·  Practical knowledge of modern web-based procedures for data visualisation e.g. in d3.js
·  Knowledge of data structures in UWPF, FS-RI, or other internal systems an advantage
·  Committed and enjoy working independently in a dynamic environment
·  Ability to think and work in a Group-wide network, strongly service orientated, team player and highly motivated
·  Very good command of English and German
