We are recruiting in our inbound logistics team for an Inbound Logistics Planner who will be responsible for the management of daily raw milk and co-products balancing, with a focus on achieving optimal costs in bulk liquid products transport, whilst ensuring the dairies receive the agreed volumes and service levels of bulk liquid imports and exports.
Your challenge
In this role the key responsibilities / experience MUST include:
Raw Milk Balancing – comprising:
• monitoring and managing raw milk balances by milk type at a daily and weekly levels.
• identifying potential issues (such as surpluses and deficits of numerous products), identifying resolutions and reacting in a timely fashion to address these issues.
• Detailed examination of historical data and being able to investigate and understand anomalies and build into future plans.
• Negotiation of trades for all bulk products and transport rates (in conjunction with the Tanker logistics team).
Delivery Planning – comprising
• Compiling data from many sources to define the plan and use of software to help decision making
• Optimising internal transport plans and costs for both deliveries and export of co-products.
• Optimising use of 3rd parties to meet volumes and cost targets (contracts, milk swaps, volume swaps) with supporting negotiation and administration
• Detailed communication with and accurate administration of hauliers and suppliers
Supply Problem Solving – comprising
• First point of contact for hauliers, dairies, customers and suppliers for quality issues, demand changes and supply issues
• Developing relationships with contacts and obtaining specific information to identify the underlying cause of issues.
Managing and Influencing others – comprising
• Daily interaction with hauliers (internal and external)
• Establishing and maintaining relationships with external suppliers and customers to have the network to achieve optimal cost saving activities.
• Other Muller business areas - communication with the wider business is required with a focus on delivering agreed service levels
• Allocation of all UK raw milk and co-products to and from all 13 UK sites.
• Raw milk is allocated each day from 5 internal depots, 14 external depots and over 30 reload sites. Generally over 80-100 bulkers per day will need to be optimised
• Optimisation of collection and delivery of cream from dairies to either other dairies, the butter plants or 3rd party customers
• Key contribution to minimising Inbound Logistics transport costs (directly influencing £2-3mpa of transport costs).
Key skills
• Strong awareness of logistics planning with a focus on costs.
• Extensive knowledge of the Muller raw milk supply chain.
• Strong financial awareness.
• Knowledge of dairy markets.
• Strong IT skills.
• Negotiation skills.
• The ability to develop relationships both internal and external.
