We’ve got a fantastic opportunity for a Livestock HGV Driver to join the Transport team based at our abattoir in Colne, Lancashire. Reporting to the Transport Manager, you will drive an articulated HGV and collect Livestock from farms and Livestock markets throughout the country and deliver safely to our abattoirs.
Here at Morrisons our Livestock Delivery Drivers do the following;
• Undertake unloading, moving and care of livestock within recognised guidelines
• Gather customer feedback from our farmers and suppliers, and also colleagues across all sites
• Ensure all legal regulations are adhered to in respect of drivers hours laws and the road transport working time directive
• Conduct daily vehicle checks and record any defects reported to Transport Manager, maintenance provider
• Ensure the vehicle interior is cleaned and disinfected between loads of livestock
• Ensure that all livestock is fit to travel prior to loading and that quantities are correct.
• Complete the relevant paperwork for the species being transported, such as passports and licences
What skills and qualifications do I need to be a successful Livestock Delivery Driver?
• Good working knowledge of the main motorway/trunk road network throughout the country
• Thorough understanding of the laws relating to Drivers hours and working time directive
• Legal compliance from an animal welfare perspective
• City & Guilds Transport of Animals by road qualification (long journey for cattle, sheep & pigs)
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with colleagues and suppliers
• Driving of livestock
• Previous experience of working closely with suppliers and farmers
