Department Profile:



HR Technology is part of the super division Advisory, Sales, and Corporate within the Firm's Technology & Data division and is a global organisation providing a variety of employee facing and internal use applications and tools. The group engages with a wide variety of technology solutions (e.g. internally developed, cloud, vendor, mobile etc.)

Our principal clients are the global Human Resources team, Payroll Operations, and the Finance global Compensation Controllers team.

We collaborate with clients and technology colleagues in all regions (NA, EMEA, and Asia):

- discussing and developing new requirements/processes

- leveraging existing tools

- integrating vendor tools and ensuring security requirements are met

- providing production support


Team Profile:



The role is for a Mainframe Developer in the Global Payroll Technology team, principally providing development and support to our North America Payroll Operations team.

The role will be located in our Glasgow office where we currently have a team of 9 people working in HR Technology


Primary Responsibilities:



The primary responsibilities for this role can be summarised as follows:-

- Lead development efforts on multiple complex projects in the HR Payroll space.

- Develop code and perform unit testing using best practices.

- Perform and lead peer & technical design reviews.

- Provide guidance to other developers and occasionally manage their work.

- Engage with product and technology partners to understand existing system flows to identify where changes are required to meet the business needs.

- Provide estimates on new initiatives/projects.

- Excellent teamwork, written and verbal communication, and organisational skills are essential, as well as an ability to solve complex problems in a numerical/analytical environment.

Desired profile

Skills required (essential):


- Excellent technical and analytical skills, with extensive knowledge of IBM Mainframe System including NATURAL, ADABAS, COBOL, JCL, CICS, SQL, MVS.

- Experience in Mainframe batch and online environment; knowledge of support operations, best practices and processes.

- JCL and batch problem diagnostic skills.

- Experience with a Scheduling package.

- Experience in all facets of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

- Working knowledge of payroll processing and policies, distributed/web technologies is a plus.

- Must be self-motivated with the capability to think and act independently with strong attention to detail.

- Project management skills.
