Department Profile:
SSBO provides utility processing services to Global Operations. By functionalizing processes across segments, SSBO realizes efficiencies through scale, location strategy and adoption of best practices. SSBO provides quality operational core processes at an optimal price point, with maximum benefit to MS business lines. Services currently provided by SSBO include Cash Management, OTC Derivative and Security Settlements, Position Services, Reconciliations, Tax, Client Reference Data, Network Management and Vendor Management.
Team Profile:
The Glasgow Position Services is the Asset Servicing area of Morgan Stanley, responsible for managing the timely and accurate processing of all Corporate Events which has an impact on security positions held by our clients and proprietary trading desks. The group consists of the following teams: Voluntary Corporate Actions, Dividends (including Optional Dividends), Bond Corporate Actions, Global Control, Client Money & Risk, Coupons (Principal & Interest), and Proxy Voting.
Glasgow Position Services currently has approximately 50 staff. Position Services rolls up to the Shared Services & Banking Operations within Firmwide Operations.
The department has been established in Glasgow for several years and has developed itself into a highly efficient and successful operation, providing first class service to our clients. This has been achieved through strong focus on control, commerciality and people. We are looking for dynamic and hard-working candidates to continue the positive progression of the department.
Each group interacts with a number of key stakeholders within the firm on a daily basis such as Stock Loan, Financial and Tax Controllers, International Prime Brokerage and Prime Brokerage.
Given the cyclical nature of our volumes, extra focus is required during the peak months (April September) which increase the demand placed on us by our clients.
Primary Responsibilities:
Advertised role is within Position Services Corporate Actions team and daily duties would include the reconciliation and payment of Voluntary Corporate Action equity events.
Processing of equity corporate actions (voluntary & mandatory):
- Daily management and resolution of corporate action exceptions
- Daily management of activity performed by the vendor team supporting equity corporate actions
- Daily communication with external agents to ensure accuracy of information provided to clients
- Daily management of stakeholders across Front Office, Trade Support, Settlements and Finance
