Operations is one of the largest divisions in the firm and has diverse responsibilities, including correctly settling and recording millions of transactions per day, identifying and mitigating all operational risks, developing strong client relationships and partnering with technology to realize the full potential of IT and e-solutions. Throughout, the Operations department continually seeks ways to improve while actively supporting the development of new businesses, structures and markets.

The Investment Management Operations group supports the equity, fixed income, liquidity and alternative businesses for Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM), providing middle-office services including portfolio manager support, client services, portfolio transitions, market registration, product data and performance and attribution analysis. MSIM Operations also provides mutual fund support, derivative processing, and counterparty and credit event management.

This position will work specifically with the Alternative Investment Services (AIS) team supporting business operations of the Alternative Investment Partners (AIP) Team. The AIP Team is a group responsible for the investment management and support of Morgan Stanley's alternative investments fund of funds strategy. The Team currently manages 200+ investment vehicles that utilize a variety of alternative investment strategies and vehicle structures. Total net assets under management exceed $29 billion.

Responsibilities in this position will include intimate knowledge of the AIP portfolios and the management and coordination of AIP investment and vehicle documentation, AIP investor documentation, and documentation from other MSIM groups as developed. This position necessitates strong organizational, file maintenance, and system skills. Responsibilities in this position will include knowledge of the AIP portfolios, and involvement with the documentation related to hedge funds, private equity funds, real estate funds, co-investments, futures, options, swaps, other alternative derivatives-based products, and other MSIM products. This position will be located in the West Conshohocken, PA office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Master the electronic document management application, Documentum. Conduct trainings sessions and assist users with inquiries such as documentation search and retrieval.

- Scan or import legal, transactional, investor, investment, vehicle and valuation documentation for a multitude of alternative asset class products and investments.

- Retrieve and process documents such as tax forms, audited financials and valuations from internal and external systems.

- Electronically deliver valuation, investor and other miscellaneous documents to internal and external constituents.

- Perform ongoing administrative duties for internal systems such as Maxwell and Client Link.

- Coordinate regular phone and face-to-face meetings with the providers. Detail documentation of meeting minutes on internal and external service providers meetings.

- Assist with responding to corporate initiatives, including regulatory requirements that impact service providers reporting (i.e. 38a-1, FATCA, Schedule TO). Assist with monthly corporate vendor and the review of annual third party service providers SSAE16 reports on controls to ensure completeness for SOX reporting.

- Assist with coordination of T3 set up and work with MSIM internal constituents on the use of MSIM trade/settlement support. Drafting of business operations policies and procedures.

- Assist with management of Funds credit facilities set up and annual renewals. Assist with the quarterly credit facility compliance reporting to the lender.

- Perform tasks for other non-Alternatives businesses and MSIM Operations as assigned.

Desired profile

Skills Required:

- Bachelors degree preferred. Finance background not necessary. Liberal Arts majors strongly considered.
- Strong organizational and file maintenance skills..
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills and the ability to effectively summarize findings, both verbally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner.
- Documentum and/or InputAccel experience is a plus.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Strong computer skills are a must.
- Detail-oriented and highly motivated.
- Entrepreneurial spirit and demonstrated ability to take initiative.
