Sheffield is home to some of the UK’s most iconic sweets brands: Maynards, Trebor and Bassett’s. It’s the largest sugar confectionery plant in the Mondelēz International network across Europe and produces approx 40,000 tonnes of sweets each year. 

The job is accountable to complete an effective analysis of raw materials, semi-finished and finished products in the site laboratory. To own, co-ordinate and complete an effective Environmental Monitoring and Non-Environmental Monitoring program for the site.

Complete data input and testing results and provide key conclusions and recommendations to the sections and Quality and Food Safety Manager to improve the effectiveness of the sites quality programs.

Own and drive the compliance to designated Quality Policies (as defined by the Quality Manager), identifying any gaps and actions to close gaps.

The position reports to the functionally responsible for laboratory activities who reports to the Site Quality and Food Safety Manager.

Responsibilities:

·  Analyses raw materials, packaging materials, semi-finished, finished product, utility samples (where relevant) on a timely and flexible basis.
·  Plans and executes an effective Environmental Monitoring and non-Environmental Monitoring program and ensures that the program is completed as per the schedule.
·  Completes data analysis of all test results and specification parameters and develops key improvement opportunities.
·  Links to Corporate Quality and Food Safety to gain approval of relevant testing programs.
·  Manage the process of sampling and handling of microbiological samples to be sent for testing
·  Support the site with basic maintenance of laboratory equipment
·  Understand and apply compliance to good laboratory practices.
·  Where required train lab personnel and production personnel on testing methodologies.
·  Engages with other team members to track and prepare KPIs reports on a regular basis.
·  Perform GMP audits to support maintenance of our Quality Systems
·  Participate for assigned Quality Policies in internal and external audits.
·  Review audit reports and implemented CAPA (Corrective Action/Preventive Action) for issues identified.

Desired profile

Qualifications

Required :

·  Academic background in relevant area of food science or engineering e.g. Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, Nutrition, Food Technology or related field
·  Skills in Microsoft Office Package - Word, Excel, PowerPoint
·  Analytical Skills – Familiarisation with basic analytical methods
·  Interpersonal Skills - Ability to develop a strong working relationship with team members along with the factory personnel and Corporate Quality.
·  Organisational Skills - Ability to demonstrate organisational skills, multi-tasking and show an understanding of the business impact of decisions.
·  Written Communication – excellent written English skills. Ability communicate effectively in English.
·  Familiarization of food analytical skills and Good laboratory practices
·  Good knowledge of processing technologies and Quality system know-how
·  English - Spoken and Written
·  Preferred:
·  Manufacturing experience in food or pharmaceutical industry
·  Work experience in food or pharmaceutical industry (food technology, central corporate function, R&D, quality systems implementation, auditing, manufacturing, project management and supply chain
