About the role

Working in our research and innovation delivery team, Assistant Peer Review Officers contribute to the core business of BBSRC, supporting the delivery of peer review-funded activities. You will work with some of the major advances in some of the most exciting areas of contemporary bioscience.

You will use and extend your knowledge of the science that BBSRC funds and develop an understanding of BBSRC's broader activities in academia and industry. You will have direct contact with research scientists supported by BBSRC and will interact with our major stakeholders, both academic and industrial, through attendance at meetings and workshops.

The BBSRC Graduate programme will provide you with the opportunity to gain an in-depth insight into how BBSRC funds and manages some of the most exciting areas of contemporary world-class bioscience. You may also be able to extend your knowledge beyond that of BBSRC's core business through spending time in other groups that lead on our Communications and Engagement, International Relations, Business and Industry Interactions, and the work we do to fund and develop PhD students and Post-Doctoral Researchers.

We aim to provide a well-structured work and development programme that will enable you to use and extend your knowledge of the science that BBSRC funds which will enable you to progress your career within BBSRC, other Research Councils or beyond.Candidates that are successful on the graduate scheme will be employed on fixed-term contracts of 18 months.

About you

You will be a Graduate in a Life Science Field and/or have significant experience of working in a relevant research and innovation context.

You must have a demonstrable understanding of BBSRC's role within UK Research and Innovation and the science underpinning BBSRC funding.

You will have had experience of undertaking research using search engines.

You should have good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, be able to work collaboratively with others developing good working relationships and be an effective team worker.
