Technical Evangelist Intern
The Technical Evangelist (TE) is a member of the Developer Experience and Evangelism (DX) team tasked with driving developer satisfaction and platform adoption through Microsoft-led events, community engagement, developing relationships with community leaders, and direct and indirect engagement with customers and partners as well as scaling through online channels.
This is a highly technical role with the mission of engaging and inspiring the broad community of developers and drive excitement and fostering adoption of Microsoft development technologies such as Microsoft Azure, Visual Studio and the .NET Framework, Windows 10, Windows Phone, and other emerging technologies. The TE leads by example and invests heavily in cultivating productive, influential partners and community leaders.
As a TE, you are Microsoft’s representative helping to win the hearts and minds of all technical audiences (Developers, Architects, Students, Faculty, IT-Professionals, startups, Independent Software Vendors and Custom Development Companies). You will articulate the benefits of the Microsoft platform - such as Windows client/server families, SQL Server, Office, .NET and the Azure Services Platform. The results of your efforts should be reflected in our ecosystem shipping products which exploit and differentiate the Microsoft platform, nurture educated developers and grow healthy industry vertical segment partnerships.
We are looking for a person who is enthusiastic about technology and engaging with the broad community. Passion, curiosity, technical depth and exceptional communication and presentation skills are required.
Duties: Drive satisfaction with Microsoft, Microsoft tools and Microsoft platform technologies. Drive next generation web technologies, Windows client platform and Software + Services adoption
Support Microsoft-driven events and product launches. Engage the broad developer and architect communities in partnership with community leaders. Engage with the broad developer and architect audience through online channels. Expand the Microsoft footprint through new solutions (partner-developed). Build and maintain trusted partner relationships with high levels of satisfaction. Win the hearts and minds of technical audiences by giving them a compelling reason to use Microsoft technologies. Drive Microsoft's image as a technology leader. Engage and build strong, mutually beneficial relationships with key technical influencers. Deliver oriented talks/presentations/talks on Microsoft technologies on events to both small and large audiences. Market Microsoft’s resources and programs (i.e. MSDN, Microsoft Student Partners (MSP), Microsoft Virtual Academy (MVA), DreamSpark, BizSpark, Imagine Cup, etc) to ensure awareness and participation. Create an online presence for yourself. Participate in DX online and offline communities.
Skills/Qualifications: A broad familiarity with recent Microsoft technologies (including (.NET, Windows, Windows Server and Client, SQL Server, SharePoint Server, Azure Services Platform, Enterprise Servers, WCF, WPF, Silverlight, etc) and/or an equivalent competitive stack is a plus. Passion for technology required.
Basic Qualifications: Completing a Master/Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent discipline required. MCSE and MCAD certifications or equivalent knowledge a plus. Proficient in English. Must be available to work min of 30 hours a week. Must be enrolled in an academic institution throughout the duration of the internship.
