Skype for Business Field Engineer

Microsoft Services is one of the most growing business at Microsoft and we are looking for talented and passionate candidates who would love to join the company and help our customers to achieve more on their business by supporting them in their complex IT infrastructures (on premise, hybrid and cloud).

We are currently looking for a German-speaking Skype for Business Field Engineer to join the Premier Field Engineering team at Switzerland, to support Swiss and Global Premier Enterprise customers.

What is a Skype for Business Field Engineer?

A Skype for Business Field Engineer provides deep technical consultancy and support services on SfB products to Microsoft Enterprise customers. Through his direct and constant assistance to the IT teams of Enterprise customers, the Skype for Business Field Engineer will proactively and reactively work on leveraging both the health and performance of Skype for Business solutions as well as related customer business operations by providing the customer with:

•   Proactive and reactive IT services that will help customer to minimize business risk and downtime and reduce support costs through prevention thanks to onsite and/or remote assistance with planning, rollouts, and rigorous health checks and remediation services.

•   Operations and technological assessments and troubleshooting to help streamline processes, including security measures.

•   Hands-on training, workshops, knowledge transfer and best practice sharing to help increase customer’s IT staff expertise and improve alignment with Microsoft services.

•   Migration and support services in complex environments and solutions both on legacy technologies, as well as cloud and hybrid environments.

In addition to the customer support, the Skype for Business Field Engineer will support Sales Teams and Technical Account Teams to find the right IT solutions and services for the customers.

The Skype for Business Field Engineer will be part of Microsoft’s Customer and Support Service (CSS) division, which, together with a high-performance team of Field Engineer subject-matter experts, will provide IT services to Microsoft Services enterprise customers and will enable the acceleration of Microsoft and Services transformation by supporting Microsoft mobile-first, cloud-first strategy with our customers.

As Skype for Business Field Engineer Field Engineer, who will be your customers?

Global enterprise companies, that are in need for comprehensive solutions that provide expert resources and support for multiple regions, services that drive global IT efficiencies, and knowledge and resource sharing across locations. How does a typical day from a Skype for Business Field Engineer PFE looks like?

•   Short term engagements or Transactional engagements (duration typically less than a week) through onsite support as well as proactive engagements such as technology workshops & health checks of the customer SfB infrastructure.

•   Long term engagements or Dedicated Support engagements, where engineers are dedicated to a specific customer and work onsite at same customer on a regular basis during a longer period (3 months – 1 year) with a specific business/operational purpose, for example:

•   support them to develop a Backup and Restore concept for their SfB Infrastructure and by this minimize downtime in case of technical issues.

•   Collaboration with Pre-Sales/Sales team, Technical Account Teams and/or Consultant Teams for leveraging customer’s business and operational requirements, envisioning and reviewing the design of end-to-end IT solutions for our customers.

Required Technical Skills

The candidate for Skype for Business Field Engineer role must bring knowledge in a set of the following technologies/ areas:

•   Troubleshooting knowledge & skills

•   Microsoft Lync Server 2010/2013, Skype for Business and Skype for Business Online

•   Crisis management and case wellness

•   Experience with O365.

Required additional competences

•   Experience in the Enterprise customer arena

•   Demonstrated passion and focus for customers

•   Understanding of complex operational challenges of IT service management

•   Strong leading, communication and face-to-face customer engagement skills

•   Self-dependent working style/ Operational excellence

•   Excellent written, oral and presentation skills in English and German (requirement). French and/or Italian are an asset.

•   MCSE or equivalent qualification

•   Degree qualification or equivalent experience

•   Good understanding of ITIL/Service Management

•   Commitment to work in virtual teams across Europe to create standardized proactive and reactive services

•   Extensive travel within Switzerland and other European/EMEA countries (over 60% travel time required).
