Job description
The Premier Field Engineer (PFE) position is to provide Microsoft customers with reliable technical solutions to the complex integration problems associated with business solutions built on the Microsoft platform. The PFE Team supports a diverse variety of technical solutions built with Microsoft technology and products. Typical tasks performed in this role include specific problem isolation and correction, user mode debugging, conducting application design and supportability reviews, performance tuning, application stability consulting, troubleshooting, and porting/migration assistance, configuration management, pre-rollout testing and general IT support consulting.

The Premier Field Engineer - You will be expected to work effectively in cross-group situations and be able to drive towards integration-oriented solutions to provide Microsoft customers with reliable technical solutions to the complex integration problems associated with business solutions built on the Microsoft platform.
Key Responsibilities
As a Premier Field Engineer you will provide technical support including product technical training onsite, as well as via telephone, and electronic media. Candidate must be able to manage hot issues by setting customer expectations, devising and implementing action plans, being available 24x7 and professionally communicating to all parties involved.

We need individuals that possess deep technical expertise in at least one technical specialty and can solve complex technical problems through sound, creative troubleshooting. You will also need to be able to examine possible workarounds and escalations as required. Demonstrate strong communication skills; ability to develop strategic on going customer relationships, gain trust and respect for the company. Engineers must also possess strong technical writing, presentation and training skills. Enjoy team work, and actively contribute to their peer group as well as our customer account teams. Communicate at all levels from CIO to the technical staff on the ground.
Expertise Required:
• Experience in the enterprise customer arena
• Face-to-face customer engagement skills
• Excellent written, oral and presentation skills (Fluent in English or Cantonese are highly preferable, Mandarin speaking will be a plus)
• Troubleshooting knowledge & skills MCTS / MCITP qualification desirable
• Degree qualification or equivalent experience
Technical Expertise Required:
SQL PFE's should be experienced in designing, developing, implementing, operating, tuning and troubleshooting enterprise SQL server databases (2008 / R2, 2012 / R2, 2014)
While our key relationships are typically with our customers’ architecture and development teams, SQL PFE's will also find themselves working with engineering support teams, so need to be confident working at this level.
This role requires depth knowledge in a number of the following technologies / areas:
• Database design and administration
• Performance Tuning and optimization
• High Availability features and supporting architectures
• Scalability features and supporting architectures
• Strong troubleshooting skills and experience T-SQL and .NET programming
Knowledge in the following areas is also essential:
• Reporting Services (including Self Service BI)
• Integration Services
• Analysis Services
• Background in Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse architectures
Desirable:
• Azure SQL as a Service
• Power BI
• Azure Data Factory
• Knowledge of other databases and types, such as NoSQL
Education/Certifications
A BA/BS degree in Computer Science or Engineering fields is preferred along with 3+ years of relevant experience, MCTS / MCITP (or equivalent) Certifications would be a plus
