Who are we?
Microsoft Consulting Services is expanding the capabilities of our Mixed Reality Studio in London, developing for HoloLens and Mixed Reality devices. We are looking for talented and artist individuals to join our team and be a part of our journey innovating with next-gen technologies.
Our team works in tight collaboration with external consumer, enterprise, and commercial partners, crafting innovative solutions that leverage both the power of the HoloLens and the deep domain expertise of our many customers.
We brainstorm exciting and ground-breaking experiences and quickly build working prototypes on top of developing tech. We transform our ideas into reality through shipping first-to-market products.
3D Artist
We are looking for a talented 3D Artist to help us create content for a wide variety of clients. The ideal candidate will excel at working with Maya and Unity with the ability to create 3D assets and make them look amazing on target devices, like the HoloLens. The candidate should be comfortable with cutting-edge technologies, as well as beta hardware and software. A versatile skill set, capable of creating hard surface and organic models is important. A base level of animation skills and general all-round Maya knowledge is also required.
Responsibilities
3D asset creation – modelling and texturing a wide range of 3D assets. This often leans towards hard surface objects and architectural spaces. More occasionally, but still required, organic modelling.
Understanding poly count constraints and capable of real time and low poly modelling
Collaborate - Work across Microsoft’s Modern Applications, Delivery, and internal UI/UX teams to collaborate and promote best practices for HoloLens.
Feedback - Actively seeks out, accepts and provides feedback from peers.
Contribute - contribute across the team and with the client, and willing to get involved in all art aspects, where possible, which may include, story boarding, prototyping, graphics, animation etc.
Requirements
Qualification - BA/BS graphic, visual design, art, or interaction design or similar.
Experience - 1+ years of relevant experience.
Technical – a good understanding of Maya and Unity 3D features
Artistic – a good eye for detail and quality, with good basic art skills.
Versatility – able to engage with a wide range of Art tasks.
Dynamic - Comfortable in a fast-paced incubation/startup environment and driven by designing and developing world class software/hardware experiences.
User-Centric - Have a robust portfolio illustrating creativity and a proficiency of 3D art.
Game development - experience across multiple platforms is a bonus.
Software Packages - Hands-on visual and motion design skills using the following software packages: Maya, Unity3D, Adobe Packages (Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, Flash, After Effects)
Bonus Skills:
Media - Video production, editing and motion design
2D UI and graphics
Cinema 4D, Z-Brush
Tech Art skills - Particle systems, Shaders etc
Python, Java, Mel, scripting abilities.
