THE OPPORTUNITY
Michelin has an immediate opportunity at our American Synthetic Rubber Company (ASRC) chemical plant in Louisville, KY for a Site Physical Therapist / Ergonomy Specialist to evaluate work performed on site, deliver recommendations and provide detailed information on ergonomic-based modifications so that the employees are able to perform their jobs safely and in a comfortable manner. WHAT YOU WILL DO
· Create and manage employee education programs that help individuals understand musculoskeletal risks are present in the workplace
· Provide details on how employees may reduce the amount of physical stress endured on the job
· Identify techniques that may be implemented in order to reduce or eliminate the overall risks that may be present
· Develop warm-up and stretching exercise programs by position type that help to target the muscles that the employees will utilize throughout the day
· Perform Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE); thorough evaluation on an employee to determine their strength, positional tolerance, endurance level, and the overall demand of the workload.
· Coordinate with site Nurse to assess employees’ needs; identifies and initiates appropriate physical therapy interventions; works cooperatively with other employee team personnel in maintaining standards for professional physical therapy practice and interdisciplinary teamwork.
· Able to assess patient pain interfering with optimal level of function of participation in rehabilitation; makes appropriate interventions to reduce pain; makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
· Assist the RGEP in managing ergonomics on the site and be the Ergonomist technical reference for the site.
· The site has relevant and exhaustive ergonomic risk analyzes and action plans are defined.
· In the context of design projects, technical transformations of equipment or organizational changes in jobs.
· Good practices are shared across the site and across the country. The site ergonomist participates in or leads the business meetings of this network.
· The annual review is presented by the site ergonomist during the SMEP Management Review of the site.
· The site ergonomist is a leader for site events: steering committees, bib event, training.
· External and internal partners are identified, and the ergonomist is the site's referent in these networks.
· Technical support in the domain will be provided in the event of an audit (SMEP or other audit / inspection) and in the event of a crisis impacting the domain.
· Where possible, participation in audits of other sites or even the conduct of audits will be entrusted to the site ergonomist.
· Ensures completion and coherency of the results of ergo analyses (Evane R) for the perimeter.
· Provide needed knowledge in their domain to develop a sustainable ergonomics culture
· Assist with the facilitation of solution development events (e.g., kaizen events, or “Ergo Blitzes”) for the facility in the search for and evaluation of solutions
· Assist with (developing and/or carrying out) ergonomics training/awareness actions
· Review health, safety, accident, or worker compensation records to evaluate safety program effectiveness or to identify jobs with high incidents of injury.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
· Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact in a professional manner with external partners, suppliers, customers, and colleagues at all levels of the organization.
· Strong teamwork, leadership, and organizational skills.
· Effective problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and process/product relationship knowledge.
· B.S. degree with Ergonomic relation and 0-5 years’ experience with Ergonomics in a manufacturing environment.
· Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office® Suite and ability to become proficient in internal software systems.
