Situated in Greenville, South Carolina, the sprawling Michelin Americas Research Center (MARC) campus is home to approximately 650 talented employees, including materials researchers, product designers, scientists, engineers, test technicians and individuals in a variety of support roles. MISSION :
Develop and share scientific and technical knowledge at the best level by implementing competencies coming from inside and outside of the company.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
• Guarantee the state-of-the-art knowledge of the physics relating to the performance of Michelin products.
• Provide to the Specialized Testing Group, relevant/complex/innovative test methods which enable expected productivity gains. Assure in the long-term that these methods are relevant and robust.
• Provide to design and performance support teams, complex/innovative simulation methods enabling speed and efficiency gains. Ensure in the long-term that these methods are relevant and robust.
• Provide to design and development teams, new/complex/innovative tools and expert know-how, enabling the success of various projects.
• Improve the practices of design and development teams in your domain of performance.
• Maintain and improve a portfolio of existing methods, and build a vision of method portfolio in your domain.
• Build and share a vision of the knowledge existing outside of the company for your domain of performance.
• Lead ambitious scientific/technical projects on a wide perimeter (size, worldwide).
KEY EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENTS:
• Build test and simulation methods, and define performance criteria by using new knowledge, and proposing strategies to measure product performance.
• Pilot a portfolio of test or simulation methods (maintain, create, cancel, adapt)
• Build a vision (process, tools and methods, action portfolio) and a plan of activities for his/her domain.
• Lead in the resolution of ambitious technical issues, with the help of external resources. Improve evaluation strategies by using new tools when relevant.
• Transmit and share knowledge at the best level (reports, trainings, tutoring, technical communications, exchanges with OEM's, inter-zones)
• Anticipate the need of new knowledge when necessary.
• Validate knowledge of his/her domain by building training plans and modules, tutoring, and piloting or building technical relationships with university labs and OEM's.
• Lead Capital Projects relating to product testing and validation.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Preferred Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Degree in other Technical Field, with related experience
