The Opportunity

We have an immediate opening for an Area Operations Manager in our Fort Wayne Facility!  You will lead all aspects of the results in a section of the facility.  You will directly manage anywhere from 30-50 wage production employees and have indirect reports in maintenance and quality that support the team.  The successful candidate will initially rotate shifts for a few months as a Flow Manager to train and learn the business, then move to dayshift M-F into your permanent role as an Area Manager over a team of wage production associates.

What You'll Do

·  Achieve Business Unit SMQDC (safety, machine, quality, delivery and cost) expected performance levels and respect of standards to satisfy customer demand
·  Ensure the team and its members are empowered and visibly committed.
·  Ensure the team’s autonomy is increased through the evolution of competencies and responsibility.
·  Provide leadership, support, and direction to 30-50 wage production operators
·  Identify and implement process improvements
·  Work with maintenance, quality, and continuous improvement teams to meet both daily and annual productivity goals
·  Develop employees through coaching plans and work closely with your team members to improve their capabilities through effective performance management
·  Monitor the short and long-term needs of the facility to ensure succession needs are met and employees are afforded opportunities for development.

What You'll Bring

·  A bachelor’s degree is preferred
·  Experience in managing in a unionized environment is a plus
·  At least 3-5 years of successful people management (industrial setting preferred)
·  A history of successful employee performance management (to include attendance, productivity, skill development, and talent management)
·  A history of successful production management (safety, production, quality, cost, budgeting, etc)
