KEY EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENTS
This position will be the Lead Engineer on our Emporia Manufacturing site’s “Gatos Project” – a reconfiguration of the wheels molding shop which will include atomization, process qualification, and validation.
· Feasibility studies are carried out with challenged and validated CDCs, the possible solutions are evaluated from the point of view of costs, deadlines, risks, functional choice criteria.
· Integration studies are conducted in cooperation with other businesses.
· The quality system and the methods of group are implemented (risk analyzes, FMEA, design reviews, quality planning, DTE, treatment of NC).
· Validations (CI, RF, RC) are obtained after the phases of realization, installation, start-up and development of the equipment made in collaboration with related metiers of the industry.
· Prototype projects managed by the process development teams are supported.
Responsibilities:
· Provide Mechanical Engineering design for assigned projects including machine specification, sizing and selection, mechanical part, assembly and schematic drawings, layout drawings, components specification, sizing and selection, bill of materials and complete machine documentation package for life of machine (dossier).
· Create budget estimates and bid packages on assigned projects.
· Provide project documentation: mechanical designs, technical offer, safety risk assessment, maintenance & operator training documents and user manuals.
· Provide equipment acceptance inspections on equipment that comes into the plant.
· Management of mechanical contractors or maintenance installation teams during equipment modifications & machine installations through start-up and commissioning.
· Project support, especially during installation, start-up and ramp up phases is on-site and "hands on"
Qualifications and Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required
· 3 years of Mechanical Engineering experience in a Manufacturing setting required, 5 years preferred
· Experience with mechanical design standards; OSHA, ASME, ANSI, ISO, etc.
· Mechanical design tools; AutoCAD or Draftsight 2D is preferred
· Experience with lifting devices, cranes, jibs, below the hook devices and end-effectors preferred
· Knowledge of advanced technologies in robotics, AGV, ASRS, AI (machine learning) preferred
· Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, piping and fitting required
· Proficient in Microsoft Office apps (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, Teams)
· Detailed installation planning including risk assessment, timeline and step by step installation
· Management of internal and external contractors to accomplish objectives
· Managing correction of equipment non-conformities and acceptance
· Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and resolve issues
· Ability to network and develop positive relationship with team members and internal partners
