Overview / Job Purpose
Methodic Practice is a young and dynamic architectural and landscape design studio established based in Clapham, London.The practice portfolio comprises ecological architecture, refurbishment, master planning and landscape design in private, public and commercial sectors. We have experience in new buildings and landscapes set in urban, suburban and rural locations with a focus on providing innovative solutions to difficult sites.
The ethos of cohesive architecture and landscape is forged from a rigorous design & communication process to ensure delivery of sustainable & buildable solutions that respond sensitively to the environmental and social context providing architectural value throughout their lifetime.
Job description / main tasks:
Researching and developing solutions to architectural problems.
Preparation of sketch, working and presentation models as required
Assisting in preparing presentation materials by CAD and by hand for internal and external purposes
Assisting in drafting and amending concept and detail designs by CAD and by hand
Assisting in the maintenance of office and project files, printing / scanning drawings and preparing drawing issues. Maintaining project QA records.
Researching project briefs, materials and construction products and systems, including using the office library and electronic information retrieval systems
Assisting with the preparation of specifications and written contract documentation
Observing relevant internal and external meetings and making notes where appropriate.
Attending site meetings with the project architect and making notes where appropriate.
Work shadowing and observation of activities within the practice for the purpose broadening the post holder’s professional experience
Requirements for the applicant:
Proficiency with Mac, Vector Works, Adobe CS, Sketch Up and/ or other 3D software programs
A working level of verbal and written English
Highly motivated, passionate and capable candidates who wish to gain hands-on experience of working on small residential and commercial projects from initial design to practical completion
Non prior experience required
Requirements for the internship:
The position is full time, initially for a period of 2 to 6 months, with the possibility of an extension if appropriate. Our office hours are normally Monday to Friday 9am till 5.30 pm
